It’s not just aimed at me and is no excuse for rudeness. In fact, if that’s the case it’s breaking more guidelines than rudeness alone.

RR, what do you do when you arrive on a site , wanting to pitch your awning, and the only pitch available is between one with the awning to the left of their van and the other has their awning on the right of theirs? Do you just turn round and leave in a huff?

Do you think the Community Manager deserves to be referred to in such terms?

You have your view, and others like TW have a different view but why is yours the right answer?

In any event what you or anyone considers the correct answer is really irrelevant, it is what the club considers to be correct and that is to pitch either nose in or reverse in. I think if one uses club sites one has to accept that and that you may end up awning to awning.

yes we all (voluntarily) pay for a pitch and therefore you can pitch it in line with the current pitching rules. It could be said that you are forcing your neighbour to park according to your own wishes.

Also you'll be at least 3m away and I don't consider that a few feet.

Then in that case cornersteady   the pitching rules need changing  .    Judging by the campervan with its awning out  on the site where we are  if the caravan next door had its awning out  the campervanners wouldnt be able to play  boules on their neighbours pitch like they did yesterday

I'm not entirely sure that RR is serious but playing devils advocate for amusement purposes. As I often quote "you cannot be serious, man"

This thread is extraordinarily, who’d have thought you could get so much angst from concerns about a door position?

Or perhaps CY is actually John McEnroe. I did hear he was keen on using LVs and there is a resemblance.

Reminds me of the fella who came on a few weeks ago, demanding the wardens work until the early hours of the morning just so he could arrive at site late into the evening.

The asylum should check it’s cctv more closely…that’s 2 escapees in a matter of weeks..😏 🤣

Hmmmm, im starting to feel a bit like a leper....fortunately for other members who might be 'offended' by our pitching (whichever way suits the occasion) we dont use too many club sites each year, perhaps half a dozen, as the majority of our touring is where pitching/aires/ impromptu stops dont have the same potential issues...

im assuming RR doesnt tour abroad with his UK handed van and awning....though if he does, does he park so as to line up in a perfectly formed row....all doors/awnings the same way, even if it means parking nose in when everyone else is nose out?...

or does he just pitch as the mood takes hom, just like everyone else there?

im sure folk dont pitch to upset others, they pitch to suit themselves...

as we just have one unit on the pitch, and no awning or outbuildings, it matters not to our neighbours how we pitch, our van is still well away from them...

I can remember about 3 years ago at Baltic Wharfe. I booked in had a ride round and there it was a pitch on the water side. I said to the wife go and ask the warden if it is ok to go in front facing the water. While she was away I parked across the pitch so as not to block the roadway and of course block the pitch from invaders. Along comes a Motorhome, are you going on that pitch asks the driver. My answer is I don’t know yet the wife has gone to ask the warden if I can go in front 1st. You can’t it is not allowed with a caravan, only with a Motorhome. Why i ask, his reply because you can reverse a mother home out easy. I then said i can engage my mover and reverse out easily.
As you all know the warden ok’d going in ok to the disappointment of the motorhomer. The morning after as I was emptying waste the caravan next to me was leaving. I had to laugh as the said Motohomer. Was sat engine revving and was practically in the pitch before the caravan had left.

Well that's not really surprising is it? As with so many of these matters, it is an obsession with a small number on the forum rarely reflected actually on site! smile

I notice RR hasn't provided an answer to the question I posted on the 26th. Perhaps he's still trying to work out a solution!

Yes indeed. And I've said the same many times, what happens on real sites if very different to what is said to happen on this site.

Being bored I've gone through the thread and counted up how many people agreed with the OP and how many did not or didn't mind which ever way people wanted to pitch (in line with the club's current practices) and the results are:

Supporters of the OP  - 3 (including RR)

Didn't agree with the OP or didn't mind - 14

I may have missed someone off the didn't agree, but the agree was 3.
