Remember......when not in use remove your cylinders and store them in a secure place!(just saying!)

Fairly straightforward.  I expect your fridge will have a 12 volt element for use when towing, so there will be two pairs of wires going into the heating unit. Follow them back, and the mains one will have a third wire connected to an earth point. There will also be a plug socket connection.

I would first use a meter to check that there is actually mains coming down to the socket when switched to mains and external supply connected.  If it isn't, sit down and consider how much a control board could cost!  If there is main power at the socket measure the resistance of the element to confirm it is open circuit.  There is often information about the element printed on the insulating sleeve around the wires.

We wanted to exchange the gas bottle for a different fitting but was told at a couple of outlets that they have been told they can only do an exact swap at the moment due to lack of cylinders.

I noticed an earlier post that you lived in Cheshire East area.

Could you tell me from which plant-hire company you managed to get your calor gas supplies? I live in Crewe and I'm getting desperate for refill. Thanks

I was fortunate to get a 6kg Calor Lite from my local hardware shop in Newport

I was told this by one shop too. I explained it said on the calor website that you could exchange if in the same category.  He said they had spoken to calor the day before and told they were only to do exact swaps. However I did find a garden centre that swapped my 4.5kg blue for a 6kg red.

I was able to exchange 2 x 6kg Calor bottles at a small "traditional" garden centre opposite where I store my van. This was last weekend. He had a delivery from Calor on the previous Thursday (17th June) and was told that he would not get another delivery until the end of July.

Yes the shortage seems to be continuing.  Today managed, after numerous calls, to find a place where I could exchange a 6kg Propane.  All I spoke to said that there was a continuing serious problem with the supply

It seems the industry cannot cope with the increased demand. Calor has failed to inform the industry why it cannot respond, and when it will provide some relief. Other gas suppliers are affected, but probably as a "knock on" to the Calor issue. It is interesting that the club has not obtained and passed on any Information to members. What is the point of being a member of a club which doesn't represent its membership?

"Cylinder availibilty issues" is the reason quoted for short supplies, some sizes are available and some for exchange only.

I've just been to Maple Garage near Sproatley (East Yorkshire) to fill up my Safefill before we go away next week, and their gas tank is down to 3% full and they don't know when their next delivery of gas is to be expected. The pump man was saying that demand for gas over the last few weeks has gone through the roof.

Whilst filling up with petrol at a small garage last Thursday i noticed they had a full supply of calor in their storage unit so asked them how they managed that. They said that it had only just been delivered and there was at least another 3 weeks before they could get any more. Typical that I didn't need any.

So anyone in desperate need and driving on the A658 about 1 mile outside Pool-in-Wharfedale towards Harrogate call in on the garage on your right just past the Hunters Inn. You may be lucky.

Shortage of new gas bottles coupled with one manufacturing plant shut for summer refurbishment doesn’t help.

Went in Kingswood caravans yesterday and plenty of full bottles including Calor lites. Exchange only though!

After a phone call, popped into Chipping Sodbury Caravans for a 6KG (exchange) bottle of propane, it was their last one. Not seen this before, but the bottle was made of aluminium with a grey top/handle. Apparently, according to the ‘lady’, they’re having problems sourcing the steel.

Never seen a lady there, Rocky - always been the same young chap.  Not getting confused with Mappleton, are you - they don't have LPG.

No, Sproatley for sure. I know her she worked there until at least 2yrs ago when I used it regularly the Lady was the one who sorted the fuel. I thought Mappleton was just storage now. It looked deserted last time I passed🤷🏻‍♂️

who wants to give that oh-so-expensive Calor back to them?

I ca fully appreciate why a motor caravanner might choose a refillable as a cheaper option. For me as a caravanner that always uses EHU a refillable would be more expensive, less convenient and a hassle in normal times.

So true Fisherman, I have just had major repairs done to my home and had to compromise on colours in order to get the job done before winter sets in. All small builders are struggling to get suppilies. My friend, who lives 200 miles north of me has a similar problem and has been waiting months for roof tiles. The house building boom is gobbling up supplies, its even reported High Speed Rail is adding to problems and is responable for cement shortages?

Back to LPG, I drove past my local garage a couple of days ago and low and behold they are advertising as having LPG again, whats more it is a Shell garage!
