Truma i.net/sim card

Our Benimar 282 has a Truma i.net box fitted for controlling the heater and Air con. The Phone App works fine via Bluetooth. I would like to get a Sim card with a Pay as you go set up. Just put a tenner on it and forget about it. To be honest, I cannot see myself  sending daily messages to the i.Net box from a Pub, say. Therefore, I cannot justify a "monthly" spend.

Can anyone recommend a service provider that will allow an "open ended" Tenner being put on the card, that may not get spent for a couple of years?

I have the same setup and use O2 PAYG. I’ve had mine a few years now so not sure if the same deal is available.

Good luck with the iNet, mine works some of the time. Everything is generally fine until the phone manufacturer updates their software or Truma update the App. Mine isn’t working at the moment and Truma not much use.

I don't think any service provider has an "open ended" deal.... even with PAYG if you don't use it you lose it after so many months.....

Just use the Bluetooth for remote usage, you'd only need the Sim if you were down the pub on a cold night & wanted to switch heating on before you got back, in which case I would leave it set low on Eco fan!

Without the Sim you just have that constant flashing light.....

Have to agree with Kaspa....is it worth the bother?

sounds like a great idea but its highly unlikely that weather conditions will change so dramatically after a couple of pints down the road that long range control is required.

ive had inet in the vans for 6 years and never bothered with it. I just use the rotary knob....seems to work really well.

just look at issues folk have with extra high tech 'systems' that some converters use to sit between customer and appliance....

Not sure I’d want to waste gas leaving it on low for most of the day. Nothing better than coming back to a warm & cozy van after hours outside in the cold & wet!

in the winter time many will be usng hook up sites, so the heating will be on ECO using electric.

Yes, but there’s plenty of us with cold & wet outdoor pursuits that don’t include such luxuries. However, there’s always the timer assuming life runs to schedule.

    Thanks for the replies everyone.

Do the updates upset the communication between the phone app and the i.net on Bluetooth, or just the connection via Sim?

We have an ASDA sim and works great, just have it on auto top up when it gets to £2 minimum, only topped it up once.

We used it quite a lot to check battery levels etc. when we kept van in storage, it is handy when out for the day to put heater on so its warm when you get back or to put hot water etc. on.  You can also use it for air con if you have it.

Biggest problem seems to be Truma keeping up with Apple (not sure about Android). When the Apple 11 and SE were launched it took Truma quite a while to restore compatibility. My biggest problems have been bluetooth to CP Plus panel communication, SIM connectivity for status check has proved fairly stable.
