Hawes Site
Very soon going to the Hawes site for a few days, we know Hawes well, but have never stayed at the club site. Any advice the good the bad and the ugly would be welcome, always like to be prepared, the latest review on todays date is not very encouraging, so forewarned is forearmed. Not worried about perceived early closure of facilities, as we always use our own.
Thanks

I've recently left a review, we had a very pleasant two night stay on a serviced pitch. The site was very busy but running smoothly. The only hiccup (and we found it elsewhere too) was due to Covid and regarding booking places to eat, as there are less tables etc in pubs they are often pre-booked and full. Hawes is open for business as usual, the walks are there as always, the river looked lovely and we would happily return.
Sorry haven't read the review you mentioned will look at it now in case I can add a further comment!
Edit
Read it now, ignore it. Avoid the bottom area if you don't like farm noises, the farm has always been there, trees drip, dogs bark. Don't know anything about facilities being shut (can't imagine that is happening as some are dependent on them.) However ring the site in advance if that might concern you.
Enjoy your stay!

Thank you for your reply, we live in the country and always have, so we know about farm noise, trees dripping, and dogs barking so not too much of a worry to us, and we would have tried to avoid the pitches near those areas if we thought it too much of a problem. But I was just looking for any other problems in general, closure of facilities, if true does not concern us, as I said as we always use our caravan.

All these reports are subjective. The person who left the site report made it known about the pitches at the bottom of the site and HIS reasons for being annoyed. I like those pitches because of the view of hillside over the wall and wouldn't hesitate to use the same pitch. So there you have it two different opinions.
I agree with Brue, ignore it and go and make up your own mind and if worried keep away from the lower pitches.

The Hawes Site is very nice 1TF, you will be fine. (Had to chuckle at that review, a real townie experiencing the sights, sounds and smells of the countryside😂)
Its very neat and tidy, the facility blocks on a lot of Sites are cleaned between 10-11am, but a quick call to Wardens would advise, if you choose to use them. It’s a very easy stroll of 10 minutes into Hawes from Site gates. Won’t add any more as you say you know Hawes👍

Highlights for us were a couple of great walks from the site to local waterfalls, Hardraw Force and Aysgill Force. The former is located within the grounds of a nice pub and the latter in a wilder location off the Pennine Way. Both worth a visit. The adjacent farm is a reality and might not suit everybody. If you don’t do 5am starts I’d recommend a pitch away from the very obvious farm buildings and driveway.

one interesting point from above (not re the site per se...) concerns pubs...which may not be relevant to Hawes, but is our impression after 5 locations so far....
weve been away since 24th May and have noticed how things have changed during covid...pubs seem to be taking advantage of the better weather and some have given over car park space to outdoor tables, increasing capacity.
supplementing that has been the increase in staff (table service now, not traipsing inside to order) and the use of high tech ordering (tablet) and linked payment devices, making everything a smooth operation.
agree, sucess here is weather dependant but businesses are really trying to give us (those pesky customers) the best experience we can expect.
hope the site and the area suit the OP.

You may also need to download an app in some venues so that you can order and pay for food on line without any contact except for the meal being brought to you.
I mentioned the pubs etc in Hawes because it's a very small town with two caravan sites and a lot of day visitors and at present has less available venue seating spaces. Hopefully things will ease as the year goes on.

Oi Im not a Townie!
Not being able to have a conversation with someone the other side of a picnic table because you cant hear them over the noise of dogs barking is not just the sounds of the country.
We have a pop top camper so am somewhat more sensitive to noise than those ensconced in their fully insulated plastic box - most of whom looked to just turn up the volume of eastenders in the evening to compensate.
When you drive at the site & only have the choice of 2 pitches both which are adjacent to the farm wall theres not a lot you can do about it.
You expect some animal noise, sheep bleating out in the fields etc, that is very different to being parked right outside a cow shed full of animals that want milking at 5am
With regard to facilities, if you've got your own its not a problem, being in a camper van we have a portapottie, but once we are packed up to go home, short of sitting on it in full view of the rest of the campers theres no where to go!
Having been members for 12 years & stayed on over 50 different C&MH sites in that time, this is the only one where noise has been a problem.

I would add, a pitch up the other end of the site would have resulted in a totally different review!
