Hi Friends,

Can anyone recommend a nice site on Orkney. I have a small 2 berth Elddis and I am on my own.

Many thanks for any information.

There are a couple of CLs you’ll find from this website. I’ve used Pool Farmhouse and it was well kept and as described.

I’ve also used 2 of the Orkney Council sites at Stromness and Kirkwall. Both were good and the Kirkwall site (Orkney Caravan Site/Pickaquoy) particularly so. The site is on the edge of Kirkwall with supermarkets just down the road and very handy for inter island ferries or those to Shetland (a trip well worth making, btw.)

Here are some websites that may be of use.

PS. Don’t miss the Italian Chapel.

We've used the Pickaquoy site in Kirkwall the most often, I recommend booking well ahead. There is a nice little site at Birsay and Stromness is pleasant too, especially if you want to visit Hoy or want a nice view. Book your ferry (we use Gill's Bay, Pentland Ferries) and book your site, things are flexible and weather dependent but Orkney is a popular place. There is a small site on Westray if you want to take the ferry from Kirkwall over there. Have a good time, it's a lovely place and plenty to see, the ancient sites of Skara Brae and MaesHowe are a must see as well. smile

It might be worth mentioning that the Pentland Ferry requires you to reverse on, or the staff will do it for you. The North Link Ferry from Scrabster is drive on, drive off.
