We are visiting Pandy next week. Would like some recommendations for dog walks where we can safely let them off the lead. Also any nice parking spots near Abergavenny where we can park to eat fish and chips?

Thanks in advance

Several good fish & chip shops in Abergavenny, try Codfathers in the main street or Market St chippy next to the market hall. Market day is Tuesday. Take a look at St Mary's Priory Church once described as the Westminster Abbey of Wales.. Lots of good walking in the area, some mentioned above, depends on how strenuous you want it. Please keep your dog on a leash or under close control when out on the mountains and moors, prime sheep country. Have fun, a beautiful part of Wales, that's why we live here.

One of the finest views can be had by driving up from Govilon to Blaenavon, (known as the Tumble to cyclists) park at Keeper's pond on the top and look back over the Usk valley towards the Black Mountains. Spectacular.

We only have a small camper van (Peugeot Boxer) any problem getting there and into the car park at keepers pond? - sounds ideal.

No problem with access. From Pandy go south on A465, to join the A40 at the Hardwick roundabout, follow round right and pass under railway bridge, get in centre lane and at roundabout take 2nd left onto A465 Heads of the Valleys road, signed Merthyr Tydfil. After 600yds take slip road , at 2nd roundabout go left, Llanfoist, pass through village after passing under a brick arch bridge take next left signed Blaenavon B4246. Climb up the side of the Blorenge mountain, steep hill with a few hairpin bends but no problem for your vehicle. Keeper's pond is on the left at top of hill, car park easy access. The view back down is just as good, enjoy. Google maps is your friend.
