Booking Club Sites

It as has been said ,the South West does not have a very long, "peak holiday season" and if checked when looking for an off peak as now staycation, there is very rarely sites that are full, ,its a place (if you can cope with some of the roads) That no booking of pitches for a tour is quite easy
PS for tinny ,not all Scots wear the kilt ,but they are very cool if worn traditionally,

As far as I can recall and before covid Devon and Cornwall sites always had more availability than other parts of the country due to they are at the end of the UK and with only one way to get there.

Absolutely. A peak season of 6-8 weeks in Cornwall when it bursts at the seams, plus a few other very busy times such as this week just ending. As folk are now travelling home as half term ends, vacancies on sites are not surprising.
It was busy this week and the accents I heard suggested folk came from the Midlands or South East as is to be expected.
Thankyou for the education re Scottish attire🙄.

I doubt there are many sites in Devon & Cornwall without vacancies over the next month or so! The touring section on the site where we have our static van was full last week but is down to single figures now until the second week in July.

Scottish school holidays here in P&K start around the 24th June this year as they do most years.
Scottish families know that if they travel south of the border, to use this club's sites, they have until just short of the English school holidays to enjoy slightly less in the way of site fees. As everyone knows the Scots like a bargain I partial to them myself and I'm from Yorkshire. So that could be the main reason why they all descend on Cornwall/Devon early and leave just before the English holidays.
To be perfectly honest this year I think parts of Scotland have seen much better weather than parts of England, I know we had great weather when on the west coast.

I'm still amazed at the concept of hordes of Scots coming to Devon & Cornwall. 🤷♂️

Where we have stopped before this year it is for two adults and two children
Beginning. of July when the north of the tend to come £34per night
later in july when England heads that way. It is £56.70per night
It is not peak when rates when the Scots come to the south west
We were about 50/50 English /scots one year for the first week we were there the Scots exodus home was just before the peak rates stated

'Corners, this is interesting, there appears to be a large orange hedge moving towards us'
'that's not a hedge Tinners, that's the Scots'
(Apologies to Blackadder)

Judging by the background roar of the A303 (we sometimes hear it in certain weather conditions like today, bright sunshine and northerly breezes.) The roads are packed with travellers, both for half termers going home and the next group heading south. We have never seen so many people on the move!! It's not like a normal year at all and I think places will be busy through till late August now. The G7 entourage will start to fill up the empty non camping spaces over the next two weeks and by the time they go home it will nearly be July. I expect as usual, the popular spots will be busy and there'll be room at the back for others...

And I’ve been up there myself several times.
I don’t dispute some will do it in both directions but I very much doubt "they all descend…" 🤣

Out of curiosity I had a look at availability for June 2022 in the Lake District. All sites listed had availability for the whole month. The Peak District has 2 sites which are booked for the long weekend of 2-5 June, Castleton and Chatsworth, all other sites there have availability. I don't know what area the OP is looking at, but I'm sure he/she will be able to find something to book at this stage.
