Booking Club Sites
Hi,
I am new to the CAMC so apologies if this is not the correct place to post. If not, please delete. I am trying to book sites for touring next year but all the ones I want to visit seem to be fully booked at weekends up until may 2022. When do the sites June 2022 availability become available to book. I am presuming you have to book early . All this is new to me.
Thanks
John

Welcome John, you have just found out a big problem with club sites. They book up early, partly because some folk can plan in advance and probably more so members speculative booking as no deposits are required.
Have a look at the CL's. These are our preferred option and you should get a pitch near where you want at a far lower price. Careful booking will see you getting electricity hook up, toilet, shower and frequently free wi-fi in the price.

Bookings become available a year in advance and usually during the first week of the month do I'd expect June 22 to be released any day soon.
Weekends do become booked on certain sites early on - tis all these folk who work through the week so have pity on them.

It is usually the 5/6th of each month that the following year's booking become available.
This year's bookings and into next has been worse due to those that usually go abroad are using club sites instead. If you can go away at short notice weekends do become available nearer the time.

The sites for June 2022 should be available on the First Wednesday of the month the year before so Hopefully tomorrow morning
The very popular sites get booked up very early, and not just for weekends
With the amount of stay actions this year and some areas overseas may even be longer some are doing a bit of speculative booking, as said on news programmes if the gates are opened for over there travel there may well be some cancellations at the last minute

John, just wait for the cancellations to appear on the late availability list. For instance 16 out of 20 sites in Devon and Cornwall have vacancies this coming weekend. Book late instead of early !

This is what will greet you this morning if you try and book. No idea what is going on other than is it the first day you can book for June 2022? The system the Club operates is not fit for purpose and I find it very frustrating. It might eventually result in me leaving the Club after over 30 years membership. So far this year the Club has lost 10 nights of bookings from me because of no vacancies at the time of booking which have subsequently become available.

You can't please everyone and for me, the booking system is not ideal. As a member, I am aware that I can join the queue and book many months in advance but I choose not to make a lot of bookings which I may want to alter or cancel at a later date as for various reasons, I am unable of don't want to travel at that time. There are other sites, but as a single person, with 2 dogs, it is often far more expensive to book at other sites and CLs, are often more expensive for a single person as well than Club sites, with less facilities. I like being in the Club but it is not perfect - nothing is!

We have booked a tour of Hampshire (including IOW) Dorset and Devon up to the end of June next year, as it involves two very popular sites ,which if not booked early would make for a very difficult itinerary
We hope to be able to do as we have booked but one never knows at our age , and the last thing I need is the problems ,as some find, if left until later,
We have plans for later next year so July 2022and beyond are on paper waiting for the release of pitches

I suspect the date change in the Spring bank holiday will have caught some people out today. Many will have booked for that at the beginning of May this year and it's now been changed to the Thursday 2 June with an additional bank holiday on Friday 3 June for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

In February or perhaps it was early March I tried to book a week at The Sandringham C&MC site (see this thread). Not a single day was available between June 4th to the 10th. Just check it out now.

Interesting it also shows some vacancies in july?
At this site there have been several cancelations and no shows recently ,it may be the hope of grouping over there?
But then how many pitches are available? It may just be one two week cancelation the weekends would be snapped up by those waiting for a cancelation

Thats 11pitches that if like many sites this year have untill the last couple of weeks been unusable, we are on the third site since they have opened and there are still several pitches too soft for LVs to use
Power problems I think the staff at FM suite aware of that Twice while we were there ,One caused by the old underground national grid cable failing and as said by those repairing it , "we are doing more and more patch ups "
Then one of the site 'underground cables giving up, knocking out 9? Pitches EHU and without taking out numerous more pitches a full repair no viable untill end of peak season
So even if you do not "buy it" its a fact of life
the Sandringham site is in Glucksburge? Woods that the Estate are responsible for the safety of the public with the trees

It's still lovely weather down here and there are 11 Club sites in Devon and Cornwall with availability for the full week ahead. No doubt some people thought it necessary to book a year ago.

Yes, lovely weather here. Shame folk could have their outings curtailed by the G7 disruption.

Scots in Devon & Cornwall? That’s not well known by me but there you go🤷🏻♂️
PS. When did school hols start at the beginning of July? It’s late June in Scotland and mid/late July in England.

JVB, You clearly have expert knowledge of tourism in Devon and Cornwall. The fact remains that many Club members have convinced themselves that advance booking a year ahead is necessary - but it isn't.
