Manchester LEZ zone
Morning
During a conversation with a friend about our camper conversions and he mentioned he was going to sell his due to the proposed Manchester LEZ due 2022???
Years ago they proposed the congestion charge which got fenced.
My question is has anybody any info on this charge and how motorhomes will be classed as they are not listed.
I have 4.5 tonne coach conversion so I could fall into many categories.
The LEZ area is HUGE yet nobody no l knows anything about it.
Thanks
David

Birmingham is introducing their CAZ zone today so you might find out about what's in the pipeline for you by looking at their web site?
PS I see you have an automated number instead of a profile name and the number obstructs your post. Did you know you can change this in "my profile" and will be more user friendly for you.

This seems to be the link to what they are doing. It looks as if any one with a non compliant vehicle would have to pay £10 to access the Club site Burrs Country Park, and probably another £10 every time they leave the site! It should only impact on vehicles manufactured prior to 2015 when Euro 6 was introduced.
On the wider point about LEZ zones which seem to the spring up all over country. I don't have a problem with the principal but given how widespread they are becoming there should be a national standard and perhaps national charging rate. Perhaps we should have followed the German Nationwide system of Umwelt stickers then everyone knows where they are? Within a few years it's going to make some Club sites almost out of bounds to some members who are not in a position to upgrade the tow car or motorhome.
Something else I am not sure of is will the charge apply to vehicles using the national motorways that criss cross Manchester?

This is the answer re. motorways:
All roads within Greater Manchester will be included in the Clean Air Zone, with the exception of those roads managed by Highways England, such as motorways and trunk roads. You can see this in detail by viewing the Clean Air Zone map
