    Don’t think it’s about giving advice LLM, it’s more about identifying those who are knowingly or otherwise in charge of dangerous trailers.
    Lots of friendly help and advice out there but some, quite a few according to the preliminary data, it appears are choosing to ignore this.

    But it will not just be the police who will be doing the checks but they will be the ones looking out for what they consider to be "not so safe LVs and will then light up their "follow me lights",to,pull them over to be checked by the professionals to examine. the vehicle, as happens with HGV Checks

    Not a long trip, I know - but I took the 'van from East Yorkshire to Doncaster on Saturday to have the E&P system looked at.  A63 - M62 - A19 - not only didn't I see any DVSA activity, I don't think I saw a police car either.  The motorway was rammed with a high proportion of vehicles being caravans.  Coming back was even worse as everyone seemed to be heading for the coast. I fully expected there to be a check point on the A63 leaving Hull as there is a lay-by there specifically designated for that purpose.

    We went to Bridport Bingham Grange, took 4 hours to travel 80 miles on friday afternoon. The DVSA check station on the A35 near Puddletown was closed on Friday and on our return yesterday. Return took just over 2 hours.

    No sign of police other than obviously late for their tea and putting the blues and twos on to get through the queues at Ringwood. No incidents, accidents or anything else holding up traffic, so couldn't have been valid.surprised

    Lots of idiots cutting across at junctions where 2into1 lanes in case that caravan holds them up.  The beauty of a 3L V6 is when the road opens up you can leave said idiots for dust, ready for them to cut in again at the next 2into1. Beats playing spot the yellow car as we did when kids were younger.tongue-out

    I was in the motor trade all my working life and the condition of peoples cars at mot time was a disgrace people Just dont look at things.Just retired mot tester 1981 to 2021 and vehical Technician from 1969 start from school now 67.

    Tyres worn on edges and cords on show.  and Brakes in very poor condition .so with all the new caravaners and motor homes on the road now it is posable that there will be some vehicles in a very poor condition.

    This must be a good thing to try and improve road safety for all.

    If you are delayed and all is ok with you, this is a small price to pay to get unsafe units off the road  Because off damage to other road users

    Just a note road speeds 60 towing on motorways have you been pased at 70/75 by caravan or small camping trailer

    I’ve also lost count of the number of trailers, caravans and others, in the third lane of motorways travelling way in excess of their legal limit
