I must admit your pics make the site look more appealing Corners but if touring I would still prefer a CL.

You could of course use the Clachan site, just up the road, but like a large CL with no other facilities than EHU and H/S, and about half the price too.

Should you not be too appreciative of the site, then you could always use the unstaffed associated site about a mile or so towards Aberfeldy but using that one might just mean you get bombarded by bolshie squirrels because it is set amongst oodles of trees
That's just what we do, and they are Red Squirrels so a joy to see them.

many tenters, who are forever visiting the loo etc, become accustomed to folk just strolling about everywhere, i guess.
we take our g'daughter to kiddies 'theme park' which has a campsite and is popular with tenters, vanners alike.
despite having a large pitch with hedges both sides, folk just trooped through our pitch all day long. no hedge at the back made it look open, and our small van on a big pitch left loads of inviting room.
perhaps an awning, a few windbreaks, a couple of dogs and chairs and tables 'might' have provided a deterrent but probably not.
just a different mentality and folk moving from tents to campervans and appearing on club sites probably dont think twice.
i even saw one chap who was only 50 yds from the shower block, battle through a hedge just to make it 45!

Tenters tend to be more gregarious I’ve noticed, they do happily mix & socialise. When LV’ing I noticed a distinct aloofness, folk tended to stick to their allotted boundaries-no armed guards patrolling the perimeter but curtain/blinds twitching played a big part in their stay. I’ve never been a follower of the ‘get orf my land’ mindset🤷🏻♂️

I’m not sure how we would have twitched the blinds in any of our LV’s and we never closed the curtains in either of the caravans and don’t have any in the MH.
Personally the only differences between when we tented and now is that we sat outside more in this country, so perhaps conversed more with passers by. Over there it’s outside much more often, as inside gets a bit hot.😂0 -
That’s why I never specified a person SL😂. Yes, you may have it there-tenters don’t hide away, they are by far more open & convivial for sure👍🏻
PS-you don’t need to be overthere to be too hot, I was felting a roof yesterday & gave in as my boots were sticking to the felt🤷🏻♂️🙄0 -
One of my ways of dealing with people walking too close (my estimate, of course) to my caravan is to suddenly appear from the door and ask in a loud voice, "Is it the First Aider you have come looking for?"

Won’t be anyone walking over our pitch this week. Gorgeous CL, no facilities beyond the fill and dump, and a very very nice cafe outside the CL perimeter. Bring it on. 😁
Club Sites are starting to sound distinctly less than perfect at the moment, not sure if it’s the clientele this year, or something else....... Either way, it won’t be bothering us, they are a second choice only for us nowadays.

I’ve been on loads of great CLs and people don’t tend to walk over your pitch unless they are stopping for a chat.
Maybe the answer is to buy loads of windbreaks.
That reminds me: I remember seeing one lady caravan owner who had a couple of dogs and she actually fenced off her pitch with some wire mesh to keep the dogs in. It would be just as effective keeping people out.

It’s where we met up and said hello Nevers! College Farm at Alkborough. Gosh that seems a long time ago now, but it’s a lovely place. Well laid out in that huge landscaped garden, with the Meadows one side. Hoping to see some Bitterns again👍

CLs definitely don’t lend themselves to pitch crossing in my experience. Perhaps a shuffle along the back hedge to reach the EHU bollard and that’s about it.👍🏻

We have seen quite a few effective “fences” down the years. Good at not only keeping things in and safe, but keeping idle so and so’s at a distance as well, not to mention any passing opportunists. We used to use a windbreak across entrance to our pitch in Cornwall that had individual hedged pitches. Gave a big of privacy as well, which is a whole new topic😯 We had a week on YRP Club Site during the heatwave in 2018(?), plenty of flesh on view there I can tell you, and not all of it fully controlled😂😳

I've posted before I don't mind at all if people use the grass strips that often separate pitches but draw the line at 'my' actual gravel.

Same as us last week, TDA. We were on a CL, all by ourselves for the time we were there. It even had a toilet and washing up sink
. Horses in the adjacent field, and plenty of space for our cat to have a walk and a mooch on her lead, bliss! Can't imagine being on a club site at the moment, full to the brim; we do use them, but definitely not during peak times. 1 -
Yes, that’s us. We had a lovely time at Ferry Meadows Club Site in April, but we knew it would be quiet mid week, and a decent price. Only other Club Site we have booked is a no facility one, and it’s cheaper than a lot of CLs in the same area. There’s a public footpath straight through this Site (Marazion) so a few who aren’t familiar with it are going to be in for a big surprise if they grab the wrong pitch! It’s on a prime dog walking route as well😂

There is a general decline in site etiquette, last weekend we had a couple allow thier dogs with no lead to wander behind our caravan to go to the toilet, another lady just opened her motorhome door to let her dog out on a retractable lead to foul the empty pitch opposite!
We try to stick to parimeter pitchs to avoid the wanderers, we had someone once walk between car and caravan, shame they dident trip on the barrels.

Agreed TTDA, club sites off peak can be good value mid week, it's the only time we use them. Have booked Meathop Fell for later this year, it's in a good position for us, and we do like the area, but apart from that, have got a few CLs booked for June.

I do believe that in part the issue lies with us. There are so many new folk on sites now who have not been brought up on the etiquette of the old club ways. Many of these people may just assume that we are all very friendly folk who are happily accepting and laid back in our tolerances of those new to our pastime who know no better. Could be that a friendly explanation from us may be a little helpful In educating them! After all we were all new to this ourselves at some point!

I’m not convinced it has anything to do with being new, it’s just an attitude that some folk have. Similar to those who ignore social distancing when you approach them on a path. There is plenty of space but they insist on continuing hand in hand forcing you to deviate into the bushes. An explanation in those circumstances rarely goes down well.🤷🏻♀️

There is a more of it seems these days, of the attitude of why should my life be affected when others are not "advised" they are not complying with what is classed as acceptable ways to behave

Walking across your pitch,
When reading reviews it is very rare that the reviewer ever mentions it to the purpetrator
It seems some even more lately are not prepared to put their head above the parapet ,and expect others will do it for them, ,in case as more often happens an aggressive attitude is taken
