Has any one got a list of sites which have Boules pitches ?

I have used the search function but it seems that some (a lot ?) of sites are missed.

Cirencester Park had one, at least when I took this photo in September 2018. Located in the large field at the back of the site, available for football, kite flying  etc. It wasn’t as you can see in that good a condition.

I think there may have been one at Moreton in Marsh from which we have just returned but where it was, plus a kick about area, now seems to be the site of four Safari Tents!

I'm pretty sure I remember seeing a Boules place at Putts Corner CAMC site, when we stayed there last year.

All 3 of those above (we've played many times on each of them - and in the sun!  tongue-out)

Also, I may be wrong, but is there one at Ramslade?

Any unoccupied hard standing pitch will do for boules.

The one at Cirencester was in an awful condition when we were there late 2019 and the field was awful as well not what it used to be like in 2010 when it was in superb condition and well used, Agree that Putts Corner has one as we were pitched fairly close to it a couple of years ago, as bb said sites in France have them, Malvern Hills(Blackmore) were going to have one a couple of years ago.

Perhaps look at a site you want to go to and look at site plan as it should be marked on it.

Both Scarborough West Ayton and North Yorkshire Moors have them I believe or least they did have BC.

    NYMs site certainly does.

And a miniature golf course as well.

There is a boules pitch at York Beechwood Grange. Just spotted it this morning. There's a few weeds in it, but to my untrained eye it certainly looks playable!

I'm quite amazed there are so many. I wonder why? I mean who thought when they designed these places that a boules pitch would be a good idea?

Post edit - I'm not saying that playing boules isn't a good idea but a campsite needing one would be a good idea if you see what I mean.

Guess it was a fad, once upon a time. Now they all go "over there" to play, or would if they could.wink As they can't some are looking to get in a bit of practice before they can venture abroad once again.

Is there a problem? who on earth said there was?

Wondering why things happen does not equate to there being a problem.

Yes or I suppose the designers were players themselves?

Or they were trying to entice rallies to use club sites, as it was a popular and competitive pastime with them, if I remember correctly.

I'd have thought that there'd be someone that would complain of ball games on site ..... 🙄

Don’t you believe it, Croquet can get very rowdy at times. Lots of EH and NT properties have croquet teams, away matches very competitive.

We used to play boules on beach.

Many thanks for your replies, I’ll take a look on the site plans and see if have been replaced with Yurts or whatever.

    Totally  off topic!

I always wonder what derogatory remarks are make when I see “ Content Removed” on a thread

Best suggestion I feel is the use of a suitable hardstand ; seems obvious really !

Subject to Warden ( or is it site manager permission) and far away from any surface that be in the way of flying chips.(or boules)
