Why is after 8 pm considered a 'late arrival'

Kev, being by the river mate I'd have thought you'd be used to a bit of fishing, but you took the bait hook line and sinker

We too had - quote from the OP: the misfortune of working. Although I wouldn't really call that a misfortune TBH, I'd rather call it being fortunate, to have been in employment all our working lives.
During that time we too didn't finish work until 5pm on a Friday, and found plenty of sites or CLs within a 50 mile radius - yes, even back in the 90's! If we did decide we wanted to go further afield, we'd take the afternoon off, so as to make the most of the weekend.
For some time now we have both been retired, and have been able to more or less go away when we want (certainly pre-Covid). That is certainly something we really value. IMHO that's life, when you're working leisure time is precious, it certainly was to us, and weekends away meant a lot, but we didn't have to travel far to be able to enjoy them. We wouldn't want to travel for hours after a day's work, and not arrive at a site until much before 10pm.
Suggestions of not travelling the 150 miles mentioned in the OP seem to be falling on deaf ears, so I'm not sure there is a solution to this, other than going to the hotels where arrival can be at any time.

😂 You rose to the bait, I wasn’t sure at the time of writing, but I am now.
One of the things to look forward to when you do finally finish work, politely tell it like it is. It’s cathartic to the soul after years of having to listen to whinging customers.
Enjoy VonTrappLand.......thanks for popping back in. Just like old times.

No, I just love a bit of curiosity with some who know how we work😉
now th op wants us to get paid more for sitting around at 6am waiting for him to pop into the office to buy his gas or fluids 🤣🤣🤣
Think ill mention it to Anthony on our next zoom call, what do you think?

Well, that was an entertaining read...all courtesy of the nonsense posted by the OP, but it did get me thinking...
The Everyman cinemas have a film on at the moment that I’d like to see on Friday, starting at 8:45pm. I have over 20 Everyman cinemas within 50 miles of where I live but I really fancy seeing it at the Birmingham venue but that’s 152 miles away and I can’t get there until 9:30pm - I can’t understand why they won’t delay the start until I can get there...seems so unreasonable to me 🤣

What username did 303 have when previously on this forum?

Oh my goodness this rumbles on doesn't it! Although the OP has a right to post his opinion this obviously isn't going to happen, for all the reasons that almost everyone else has given. If people can't work with the rules there are alternatives, ask for Reasonable change, stick to going abroad or hotels who will accommodate their needs or leave the Club. There are alternatives, like buy a static van, most of these sites have a barrier and you are free to come and go as you please at any time. But be aware that again you will pay a premium for this. So back to others comments, you can't expect Club sites to run like first class hotels.

My final post on this topic.
I’ve enjoyed the comments, many have made me laugh from those who agree and disagree.
Clubs/companies need to consider change openly or perish. I hope the club will consider change openly (not necessarily what I’m proposing).
I see many challenges and changes ahead for the club, for example towing license restrictions might decrease the uptake in younger tourers. My Dad was a member, now me. I hope the club is still around for my son if he’s interested.
Have fun.0
