Three items on touring reported on our local news
Our local news has just run three different reports on touring. It seems very many farmers are opening Pop up Camps for tents, to help with their finances and the expected influx of visitors this season. Many Caravan and Motorhome sales businesses are reporting that they have run low on stock due to so many people buying caravans this year. And thirdly that people from Covid hot spots are being asked not to travel here. I think once the weather changes it will be a very busy season.

I’ve been looking at the used caravan stock online at our local dealer recently, just out of interest, and virtually all of the available caravans are sold. Some are even marked as sold before the full details go online (presumably ones that are coming into stock and not valeted ready for the forecourt). Hopefully the buyers of these new caravans can actually tow their new purchases safely, and have suitable tow cars. Some of these vans are quite hefty weights.

Yes, I saw that Debs but did you see the aerial shots of Highbridge and the hundreds of LVs lined up? If they all take to the roads and sites, we're in big trouble!

I'll add my own bit of holiday advice here, especially to anyone travelling over the next few weeks and into summer. Things are very busy, if you're looking forward to a meal or lunch in a favourite pub etc book well ahead because everyone else will have had the same idea.
There are lots of extra vans on sites that would probably be abroad and it's started to feel a lot more crowded in the popular spots we've been visiting.

We have two major dealers local to us and they are both low on stock especially the part exchanged used caravans that they would normally have to reduce the price of at the end of the season. I wonder how many of these buyers of second hand vans have bought a rot box on wheels. Maybe at some point when foreign travel opens up fully (maybe next year) there will be a glut of used vans to choose from.

As I traveled down to Devon via M6 and M5 last weekend I saw lots of caravans being towed well over the 60 limit, some nearer to 65.
I hasten to ad I was not towing myself.

I’m sure you’re right, Nevers, and the market will be awash with secondhand LVs before too long. It'll then be a buyer's market and I fear some dealerships may not survive.

And I'll just post a reminder here about the disruption due to be caused in Cornwall by the G7. There’s a separate thread in this section for anyone affected.
