As a non-member, Mikey, you seem to know, or assume, a lot. 🤔

Indeed! I had thought that he was talking abut club sites as he was talking about 'non- changes' on club sites and arrival patterns on such sites. But as a none member how could he be?

If the arrival patterns he discusses were not on club sites then what BMike had to say was perhaps irrelevant?

In fact as a non member and therefore non user of club sites (unless he is paying the non member price) why is he so bothered?

One may very well ask, Corners 🤷🏻‍♂️

The other alternative is that Mikey might be talking of his experiences from years ago in which case they could well not be relevant to current times.

Loads of alternatives in the UK I use them all the time, and as i seldom use club sites for a variety of reasons, but certainly not because of the checking in regime, in fact i will be visiting one next week, where i have already chosen my pitch, the owners have sent me travel instructions and a contact number if i have any problems, so all i need do is rock up.

Are there loads of alternatives where you can arrive at 10am. None of the private sites we have used have allowed it. Most have been 1pm. Some allowed a late departure but charged for it.

Many private sites have things like restaurants, bars, clubs and lots of statics, all of which must bring in extra revenue. I am quite happy with the majority of sites as they are. I have no wish for bars, club,  pool etc. The few pods are a good idea as it allows non caravanning family members to meet up, however wouldn’t want them reach the number of statics on the private site we used in Pitlochry. Clearly with the difficulty of getting a booking many others must feel the same.

But up to covid your (recent) experiences have been using club sites to access various ferries, I think you one said that was a few times a year? During your stay in the UK since covid you have perhaps visited about 5 sites according to you? So really I would suggest that you may have seen what Mikey describes but you cannot say that is true on all sites.

In my (certainly more comprehensive) experiences it varies by site and season. Often in summer leavers are much nearer 12. Of course don't forget the old Sunday departures.

But it's good to know that all your booking, past and present these two years on your enforced staycation have been on club sites (as you posted elsewhere).

never mentioned anything about early arrival, probably having a cup of tea in bed at 1000hrs, but that said our last sight simply said "arrive when you want" only 2 hours from home and we had arranged to see friends PM, and our next site ditto both commercial sites, but agree,  but we are out of season except for next week when it will be BH week but we will arriive on a Tuesday.

Pool is all i normally look for and some years ago we stayed on 2 of the club sites with pools, only 2 in the network i think ?, and jolly fine they were, but again out of season laughing, but if that is how commercials make their money to fund permanent reception staff to enhance your holiday experience on arrival then so be it.

p.s. our next site only has 17 fully svcd pitches adult only coolcoolcool

Certainly there are sites here in Cornwall where arrivals at 10 am are welcomed - some even earlier than that for people who drive down here overnight.

In Cornwall the family owned and highly recommended Globe Vale site says "our reception is open from 9am. seven days a week. If you believe you will arrive before 9 am we would appreciate a phone call to let us know" .

Don't need or ever have needed a black book, all from memorysmile

As I said good to know it's only ever clubs sites all the way for you. In fact you've been on more club sites than me these two years.

I'll certainly let you comment on club sites during covid but before then you experiences on a ferry pitch twice a year hardly gave you any relevant input, sorry but true.

And I'm not its biggest fan, all I have ever said, often, is that club sites are the best for me. Other have to judge for themselves, and as you book only club sites you must have judged. But don't forget other sites are available I'm toldsmile

No, because I'm not in one or need to dig. Just carry on using club sites AD. I'm just happy they're you first (and only) port of call, really!

PS you have the last word if you wantwink you seem to want to excuse/hide your use of club sites, Hamlet 3-ii springs to mind
