I suppose automating site entry could solve lots of problems especially if you knew the card would only allow access between certain hours. No point in turning up early if you are bared entry until 1 p.m. It would leave site managers time to get on with other tasks as well.

Arriving somewhere at 10 pm how wayward of me.  I should be tucked up in bed by then.

It’s your choice what you do, 303, but I think it's a tad short sighted and selfish to expect the whole site staff working structure to change just because you choose to drive 150 miles to a site after finishing work at 5pm. Frankly, I find that a very thoughtless and inconsiderate outlook.

Have you raised this issue either directly with the club or at the AGM because I feel that's what you need to do rather than posting your personal wants on a forum.

I do think a healthy dose of sarcasm invariably prompts posters to give positive responses👍🏻

Maybe you should show a bit of consideration for your potential neighbours on site, possibly with young children settled in bed and awoken by some inconsiderate "I want it my way" arrival setting up next door to them!  yell

Edit - in fact, the solution to your dilemma has already been given - use the LNA area. Less cost, no disturbance to neighbours and straight into a pitch the following morning. Problem sorted! 👍

Aurtomated arrival up to 10pm. would be quite acceptable to me after all members go out to the pub and don't return until late.

I cannot see any reason in the summer months why Friday arrivals could not be accepted up to 9pm. The member of staff working the extra hour could simply start 1hr later that morning.

As the warden would know how many units had not arrived by 8.00 pm, the remaining unit(s) may well have arrived by 8.30pm , job done!

Annoyance of others? I've been on ferry sites & have woken up to an empty pitch next to me without hearing thing when they've gone . There are loads of "I'm up, so why aren't you" people in general without being on a ferry site .....

What makes you think I don't have children.  Do people take children to hotels??

    Nonsense as I said,

'Now if it is just me, who cares, but if it is many people perhaps the club should care.'

Why is it offensive to ask a 'personal' question? Should the questions be impersonal, I must have missed that forum rule.  Your last post is entirely correct however a AGM issue would be worthwhile to raise.

Unfortunately 303303 there are many here that are averse to any change whatsoever ..... it's like this, has been for eleventeen years & can see no reason for any change. 😉

You wish to be a member of the Club, and having joined you know the rules. The vast majority appear to content with them as they stand as they remain year after year. I don't believe that this issue was raised at the AGM so cannot have been a major issue for most members.

They don't usually turn up in the next room  engine revving as they reverse into the room, slammimg car doors, or setting up the room - it's already done for them (at a cost, of course).

But anyway,  what's wrong with the solution of using the LNA area? undecided

Ah, now you're using standard dismissal terms and twisting my words. The sure sign of someone who a) realises he's fighting a lost cause, or b) is deliberately inciting argument. 😄😂

Glad to hear the rules are not immovable.  Have opening hours never been discussed - if the minutes are published somewhere - I'd love to peruse.

But do they remain year after year for the club sites & their rules and coloured pegs? I don't.

Not sure I would be happy to be disturbed much later than 8pm

Surely the time restraint is not only for the wardens but also for the other customers staying on site?

Would you yourself turn up at a site after, say 8pm, if you knew no LNA were available?

I think folk (as most do) need to show a bit of responsibility and consideration for others, rather than this stamping of feet and "I want things my way" attitude.

But then, I strongly suspect this whole thread is a badly timed wind up intended for Friday evening entertainment! frown

Well one thing is totally clear judging by the number and speed of responses. This is a hot topic and needs to be looked at from above.

LNAs are excellent in principle - well-equipped, I like the idea.

The problems is there is no guarantee of a pitch and you can't book them.  So I don't want to be stranded with kids in a lay-by (or trying to find a lay-by), if I arrive just before the watershed.

The engine noise is an issue, I agree.  Doors slamming, same problem in hotels.

Have I? Not sure how you've managed to keep a tab on my club membership. I certainly do not remain a member to be able to park within a few thou of a peg in a row of other caravans or motorhomes.
