Toilets in Scotland
i really don't understand why the club is still unsure about opening the toilets ( not showers) on sites in Scotland.
by following the link below the Scottish governments' guidance clear states " toilets can be open with increased distancing and cleaning. This has allowed public toilets to open, and toilets in pubs and restaurants, so why not the toilets on sites in Scotland ????????

I would suggest you have supplied the very reasons they’re not open - increased distancing and cleaning.

Why is OUR club still undecided about toilets in Scotland
as on Monday all areas go into level 3
in level 3 last year ALL facilities were open, and following the link above you can clearly see that toilets can open.
if you don’t want us to visit just say so and I’ll head south

Just received an email from the Club, confirming that toilets, showers and shared facilities will be open when sites open again on Monday 26th April.

I just received the same email yesterday with the addition of the following:
Facilities at Culloden Moor Club Campsite
Please note that unfortunately, due to essential maintenance, the toilet block at Culloden Moor will remain closed until week commencing 17 May. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.Typical, we arrive there on the 15th.

Come on Harry, you can manage for a couple of days without toilet facilities I'm sure. You've stayed on enough CLs in the past without them, haven't you, and always managed.

Yes NTH not a problem. The thing is they've had weeks/months to do maintenance work and my my remark and sad face was tongue in cheek as it coincided with our arrival.
We do use more cl's than club sites but on this tour with the word 'staycation' and being in Scotland there aren't many cl's we could choose from hence the club site
Out of five weeks we are using 3 club sites, one commercial site and only 2 cl's but we have managed to get accommodation on our preferred route.

Harry, there's a small CL we use not far from Culloden, Geddes House near Nairn, No.1898 in the site directory. It is in a walled garden but is grass only.

Further to my post on 24/4
I was due to arrive at Culloden tomorrow for one week. Forgoing the facilities for the first two days
I phoned the warden to ask about arrival rules and asked if the loos had been fixed. Bombshell! He said the system pump hadn't been fitted and wouldn't be until 21st June. Unbelievable. The warden phoned me three weeks ago to say he was making me aware the repair date was the 17th May. Why then was I not informed things had gone pear shaped and the site would have no facilities for a further month. Unbelievable. There was no offer of a reduction for what was now a basic facility site. Not being prepared to pay £186.90 to pitch on z basic site I have changed sites.
Two things came to light over this. 1 why won't the club offer a reduction. 2 yet again poor communications by the club.
The club have changed the rearranged date on the site booking page but that is immaterial when people will already have a booking confirmed by email.

Probably an oversight Harry, they can happen. We received a phone call several weeks ago about our booking that was affected by the block closure to 17/5. Plus another one the other day about the delay in opening, as we have another night booked on our way south. As to a reduction, they clearly have a policy not to. As you have done it’s up to each of us to decide if we want to pay it. On our visit, although occupancy was substantially lower than Berwick the night before, it was still reasonable. Would they have got many more in by lowering the price.? Unfortunately we will never know. We were only there for 3 nights and the site is ideally situated within walking distance of the battlefield, so had no issue paying the premium.

We were fortunate enough to bring our visit to Killin forward by one week so cancelled Inverness. I have just settled the bill for the site we are on (commercial, pay on leaving) and was given a £20 discount for facilities being closed. I new nothing about it I certainly didn't ask for it.
The whole scenario with toilet pump at Culloden seems a bit odd to me.

For a site with no facilities, I would not expect to pay more than £20 per night, so if the facilities are down, the Club should be reducing the price.
It is not the consumer's fault that the facilities are unavailable. It may not be the Club 's fault either, but they have offered the facilities, and members have booked in good faith, so they cannot expect members to pay for offered facilities that are not actually available.
if members have been advised that facilities are not available, then that is a bit different, but even then I would suggest that the Club should offer a reasonable reduction

My scenario goes from bad to worse. As mentioned I decided to cancel Culloden and move to Killin (Maragowan site). Another expensive full facility site. We arrived and set up but by 6pm the motorhome dump out point had been cordoned off as it was blocked. This then had a knock on affect to the facilities block. This met with the blockage further down the line and started to come up through the drain grates and flowed onto 2 pitches. At 9pm last night the wardens closed all facilities. Dynorod were called and arrived just before lunch time this morning. The operative couldn't tackle the job because it was to big for the equipment on his van to handle. The latest news is that Dynorod are hoping to attend again on Tuesday to further tackle the problem with the appropriate kit. The irony of it. I moved from one site with broken down loos and walked into another.
It seems to me there is something wrong with the clubs maintenance schedule. One site can't be fixed until 21st June after being closed for winter and now another site has got major problems after only three weeks of operating.
Where does this leave the paying customer? This site at Killin has cost me £206 after VAT deduction, £25.8 per night and it is now in the same class as the other site in Killin (Clachan) which is only £16 per night.

Harry, please let me know which are the next club sites that you are visiting, so that they can be crossed off the list for a visit!

I would have thought in this case Harry you should be entitled to a discount. At Culloden we were told the facilities were closed and still went, so it was our choice. You have not been given a choice, as you’ve already handed over the cash.
