I came across this link (you will probably need Google Translate as it's in German) Its from the Deutsches Caravaning Institut but I am not sure what status this has in Germany, perhaps Lutz could could comment?

Whilst this might not affect us directly it seems that the EU are considering raising the B licence weight limit from 3500kgs to 4250/4500kgs. The above organisation is encouraging people to comment on such changes. Even if the change was made, a sensible one in my view, it probably wouldn't impact on the UK unless we decide to follow any changes.

Just thought I would flag it up as point of interest.

They have been talking about that for at least five years to my knowledge.  It would be nice if it was to happen in my lifetime but i will not hold my breath.  Then, of course, it will be necessary to get UK Gov to follow suit although there is a big driver - the extra weight of battery powered commercial vehicles.

By the time it becomes UK legislation I'll probably have a granite pitch marker.
