Onboard water
Hi all
we have an onboard water tank with an immersible water pump. We fill the tank with either hosepipe on a serviced pitch or via water can lugging back and forth to supply. The inlet is a simple petrol type lid. No electrics, just a pipe going in. We were given an Aquaroll by friends and I wondered if I could use it somehow to just pump the water into the onboard tank or can the immersible pump in the onboard tank suck out the water from the aquaroll like emptying an aquarium?
Thank you for reading and answering.
Kind regards Sandra

The answer is yes and I have such a system on my Knaus which was retrofitted by the dealer since, surprisingly for a twin axle van, there was no inboard tank.
The tank has a float switch which operates the Aquaroll pump via a small electronic switch. When the inboard tank is empty - or the level falls below the float switch, the aquaroll pump comes on and keeps the inboard tank full. All the water in our van comes from the inboard tank.
An alternative way - as we had on our previous Barcelona - is to have a three way switch - off / inboard/ outboard pumps - but this meant having to go under a seat to switch a valve over to divert the water from the aquaroll to the inboard tank.
Are you absolutely sure there is no way of filling the inboard tank other than by the means you describe - since that's most unusual?

I have done similar to David and use a spare submersible pump we had from our previous caravan. I fitted it with a push button on/off switch and a cable that plugs into an external 12v socket I fitted in a locker nearby.
I use it to fill the toilet header tank as my arm does not like lifting the water carrier.
We also have an onboard water tank, but that already has a pump and valves that we can set either to use water from the tank, from the aquaroll, or fill the onboard tank from the aquaroll using a pipe that plugs into a water inlet in the side of the van.

Thank you all! Submersible pump it is then.
