Electrics tripping

Hi all 

i have purchased a used tourer and when I viewed it all was working fine lights ac heating fridge on the electrics 

now I have plugged it in at my home it trips out 

my fuse board has recently been fitted in the house with no problems 

I have tried both caravan socket I have and by plugging into the mains socket each time it trips 

same cable as the guy I bought it from 

any advice please thanks

    If it trips out your rcd on your fuse board without any caravan facilities turned on it could well be an earth fault 

    If it trips when using appliances in the van it would need to be a process of switching appliances on separately. To see if one of them is faulty

    Good advice from JVB. It doesn’t take much to trip the RCB and some are more sensitive than others. Some current leaking to earth isn’t always easy to isolate without the help of a professional and appropriate test equipment.

    I would suspect the EHU cable as first choice, are you sure the same cable was used as when you viewed it?

    Thanks all for replying 

    can you confirm if this is right 

    I have tried 3 cables all trip out 

    if I switch off the rcd in the van 

    And keep the cable connected I assume it would be the cable I don’t think it’s the cable but if it tripped with the r d off it would be 

    I assume the next step turn off 

    lights fridge ac and put them on one by one to see what trips it 

    the cooker and hob are gas so it won’t be them 

    no tv in there at moment 

    Is this the right line I’m on

    that is correct start by just connecting van hook up lead if all o.k. switch various mains powered appliances on one at a time but don't overload by trying to have all mains operated things on at the same time

    I'm confused (yes I know) but what is tripping, the caravan or home rcd?

    As above,what is tripping house or caravan.

    The other thing is what are you using to connect van to house,if you are using a blue socket to three pin plug,adaptor,I would look at the adaptor first.

    Ok the cable is tripping the fuse in the house 

    with 2 different leads 

    so I thought I would check the battery this was low so I have recharged

    it and the battery is fine I thought I would try using 12v for the lights but still not working 

    why would the lights not work with a fully charged battery?
