How green is my caravan holiday ?

Even when there are recycle bins, many are too lazy to sort stuff properly.
I fear that our "sustainability" man is just lip service. If CAMC were committed to "green" they would offer non EHU pitches for those who have invested in solar/lithium. Instead they effectively pursue a "fill your boots" policy on EHU.

that is one thing I find quite strange why do some invest in LVs sith all the latest gizmos solar panels it seems being the "latest must have" and then go on sites that are nearly all EHUm that the owners have spent a fortune on installing and having to be tested annually ,because for most ,it is a must have "us included"

Excellent, it’s good to disagree even better to be civil about it👍🏻😊

Of course we could recycle everything into half a dizen or more separate bins, like they do on the sites we have stayed on near Callais, and in Germany (Fussen) and Austria. Which is fine until bin collection day when on the french site everything went into the same bin wagon compartment....

Not sure if it is still the same, some years ago Skegness Sands site belonged to Hawkins electrics the company who .was the main contractor for the cc EHUs
If you wanted EHU the warden. ;would switch on the socket for your pitch from a main console in the office it was a way of controlling who had power, when it was an add cost , it was not a cheap method of control, not sure if they sold it to other site operators
The idea was to stop ,as was happening on many sites around the country not just this club. ,site users plugging in when no one around to "police"?
It may not be there now as most sites EHU is part of the package?

We didn’t see any apparent recycling at Ferry Meadows a couple of weeks ago. None of the refuse bins were marked up for different types of waste, as we have seen on some other Club Sites. All traditional type dustbins, nothing to indicate this into that bin, or that into this bin🤷♀️ Surely the Wardens aren’t expected to sort it instead?
East side, no idea what happens on West side.

If club wants to display true green credentials, it could start by offering different electrical tariffs. If you want 16amps, you pay more, give a high, mid and “low” option, and then a true “green” off grid option. Price accordingly.
Might not be viable on existing Sites at the moment, but anything new, or upgraded it could be a standard policy to put in variable ampage posts and give users the choice. Many outfits are now quite capable of three season touring without resorting to heavy electrical requirements.
The Club panders now to its older, more affluent, high “sit around on Site” membership.0
