Petrol Stations on A303
I will be going from Exeter to Buckinghamshire, with caravan on tow, using the A303. Can anyone advise on a fuel Station about half way with parking so I can use the Loo? The bladder is not so good these days. I know I could look for a lay by but when you've gotta go!!!! I have tried Google Maps with no luck. Hope you can help.

There are plenty along the way - both lay-bys and service stations. Google Earth might help.
Stonehenge Services springs to mind.
However, you've always got your own following you!

Hi Mr H, I know Bucks is a long and narrow county but I am wondering why you will be going via the A 303?
I would use the M5/M4/M1 for Slough/St Albans or hang a left onto A34 if going North if there but, of course, you may have your route as a preference.
As TW says you are catered for in a ‘emergency’ however, as said Google maps should help, search for services or rest area, and service stations.
I think it may be easier on a PC/laptop, you can chose to show filling stations I think, and maybe try ViaMichelin where you definitely can.

Tinwheeler, I know I can use our facilities but as I don't know the route well it would be just my luck there will not be a lay by nearby. Allenand jean My reason for using the A303 is because of the roadworks on the M4. I regularly use it and it is often very congested or comes to a standstill. I have tried using the internet but have not found a fuel station advertising car and caravan parking. Brue I will try finding out about Fleet. Thanks guys

As I said, there are plenty of places to stop. In fact I'd wager there are far more lay-bys than garages. Google Earth will let you see the sizes of parking areas.

Hi, Not aware of current, or future, roadworks however, I use the A303 to visit friends in Basingstoke and would likely still plump for the M4.
Anyway, if you are searching for ‘ car & van’ you may not have much luck. Suggest decide on potential stop area, search on Google maps to identify possibilities and the Streetview to confirm size and access.
Good luck.

M4 currently has roadworks at Swindon J16 and from Reading J11 to M25 J4 (Smart Motorway) Often weekend closures, as last weekend.
Where in Bucks is your destination? Bucks starts at the Thames at Bisham A404 J8/9 M4 if you are using the M4.
A303 currently has roadworks at Amesbury that causes delays back to the A36 Wilton junction at times, not just weekends. No pattern to it.
In terms of service stations there are loads. Cartgate as mentioned earlier. Chicklade. Solstace at Amesbury. Andover. Fleet on M3 as earlier. All fit caravans.

We live in Somerset Mr H and use the A303 for Bucks, sometimes via the M3/ M25 or via Newbury/M4 There are several small services available including the one off the Amesbury roundabout, the ones on the roundabouts are easier and larger! From Cartgate it's usually about an hour to Andover. There are plenty of lay bys and if you can use your van it is easier on this route but Fleet is a motorway service and much the best for space. There seem to be roadworks everywhere and the Stonehenge bottleneck is always present, try to avoid late morning and late afternoon through there. Have a safe journey.

+1 for Cartgate, but daytime hours best - some strange folks there after dark!

I am coming home to Chesham in south Bucks. Have been caught up at Stonehenge before, but the site leaving time, means I will likely get there at peak passing time hence my concerns. Fleet Services seem to fit the bill (as long as we reach it). Cartgate is interesting and I'll put it on the list. I never signed up for this getting old bit. Thanks guys

The A303 route is a good bit shorter than the M4. It is certainly the route I would take. Much more enjoyable drive as well. (I know I live in Leicestershire but I lived in Hampshire for 30 years and did a lot of travelling both east and west.)
Solstice Park Services are about half way on your preferred route, but, whilst access is possible by taking the Bulford turn, I believe they are not signposted when travelling east.
A few miles further on are the Weyhill Services just outside Andover. These are relatively new - well rebuilt anyway after several years of closure.
Further on still - and, I think, the next full services, not counting glorified petrol stations - is Fleet on the M3, but that is well over half way and a long way from Exeter.

There's a Morrisons just off the junction for Wincanton and next door to their car park is Wincanton Logistics. You could be a bit cheeky and pull in there for ten minutes.
