Did you know that there are 14.1 million disabled people in the UK? And for many, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find suitable accommodation that allows them to freely explore different holiday destinations across the country.

That’s why Omnipods and Cabins are trying to make the world a more accessible place and they need your help!

They have put together a short survey to help push for change. If you have a spare moment they would be grateful if you could please fill it in here: Accessible Tourism Survey

Another one done. If this is as good as it sounds it may enable families with less able members to enjoy more holidays as one big family rather than nobly cancelling themselves from inclusion👍🏻

Last big family holiday we had (including one disabled ) was with 12 of us in a smart holiday house on the Ile de Re.  Huts and sheds didn’t appeal.

Clear back door advertising.  Surprised to find it on CT.  Does it not break the rules?

It appears to be the company that markets the pods the club uses.

Surely any improvement they make as a result of feedback is a good thing?

I haven't done the survey but had a good read about the adapted accommodation and thought it looked good.

+1👍🏻. I’m happy to support anything that helps families spend quality time together.

The accommodation pods in use at present are made by Swift Leisure. I see the adapted pods/cabins are from Devon...if I remember rightly from reading the details yesterday.

It could be, but the survey is mostly about peoples holiday booking habits and very little about how the product could be improved to enable disabled access.  One wonders who is really benefitting.

And those adapted pods are the ones the club uses. The pictures are the very same. Perhaps this company fits them out and/or installs them on site.🤷‍♂️

I'm sure it's about supply and demand and it would be good to see more accessibility for all ages. The product is already there but will the club decide to use them on sites?

There is such a delay with posts it's difficult to have a conversation!

It is pretty poor advertising showing an accessible pod perched on top of a hill!.

Both my late MIL and Dad needed adapted accommodation in the latter years of their lives, and both could only get around outside with a wheelchair. We never got to take my MIL on a holiday simply because things weren’t as available back in the 1990’s, and I still struggled to a certain extent finding something we could let Dad use safely and easily in the later years of his holidaying life.
I am now constantly looking for places for my 92 year old Mum to use safely as well. It’s often not just having everything on one level, and a walk in wet room, but little things like trip hazards in door ways, mats and rugs, slippy floor surfaces, ill placed furniture, unsecured shelving and furniture that might topple if grabbed for support, easily accessed plug sockets, etc......

I have looked at the luxury pods that the Club provides on some Sites, and think that they look suitable for Mum to share with my Sister, while we could take MH to a nearby pitch. Might be good for a short break, but only if the price is right. As it is, at the moment we are finding holiday cottages for us all with the right accommodation, that is giving us more for less outlay.

Will complete the survey, everything is a step forward.
