'Wild camping' in a motorhome or van

Many Councils in Scotland are encouraging the provision of basic aire type facilities. Highland Council and Argyll and Bute council have approached all campsites in their area asking if they are willing to provide service stop offs for none resident motorcaravanners. They are even offering incentives to allow for this service. The cost is usually between £3 and £7.
Some places which in the past have been free overnight stopover are now being charged for such as at Girvan Harbour.
While there are some people who would prefer to pay nothing, most now recognise that the increase in Motorcaravans this summer will make free places increasingly rare. Places which welcome motorcaravanners for a reasonable fee will be very popular.

In a away I am glad that I had my 50+ years of campervanning ( never anything bigger than a van conversion) I recall the times when the rules were easier, no interference because you were different. An ask it all it took for some great fishing and wild camping. That was not freeloading but just the way I liked it, away from all. I have stayed on farm land where the farmers are now the third generation from when I started. Never did I get any aggro. In fact I recall swapping feeds of fish for the stay. Todays age is too complicated. Too many take offence when you are only different. It is true todays generations dont have the same respect for the environment, leaving litter etc, In my days you left a site as if you had not been there, A simple philosophy. Good luck to wild campers who have the same philosophy
