I took a phone photo of my licence Peedee and sent back my card licence cut in half as requested. I'm hoping this has avoided any extra delays.

Indeed a glass half empty opinion.

Mine is a glass half full realization , that we all have to stop driving eventually if not for our own safety & wellbeing , our loved ones & other road users.

I've mentioned it before on this forum one of my nephews is a  Sergeant Traffic patrol officer.                                                                I'm regularly informed by himself most caravan related incidents he's attended are the fault of equipment failure mainly tyre blowouts or tyre damage caused by clipping kerbs & or other road furniture.

Sadly a number of these incidents are because the drivers eye sight(after a road side test which the police can perform if they think it's relevant to the accident ) isn't up to the required standards & he's had to report such findings before.

That goes for all road traffic accidents not just caravan related incidents.

We all need to realise when is the right time to hand in our licence, I for one won't want someone else to make that decision for me, either voluntary or mandatory.

Unbelievably I've had a letter by return today, thanking me for applying on line and  stating that I must send my cut up licence, form and envelope provided....if I don't do it my licence will not be renewed....and there may be delays due to covid. undecided I've got 40 days to send the licence I've already sent.....what a poor set up.

Sad but true in regard to younger drivers....LINK (not the latest statistics.)

A need for everyone to take care?

It's not uncommon for people to have entitlements not carried over from paper to card licence .... a common one seems to be motorcycle entitlement and DVLA seem incapable of adding back on. Their answer is to retake the test.

Margaret had her renewal a few weeks back which required her to fill in a medical questionnaire (diabetes) which we did online. We sent the old licence back and she had her new licence returned in a matter of days.

Problem with that is how many of us can drive or ride how you should on a test.

if you were ever 'invited' to a speed awareness years ago when they did a practical part, it was your chance to try .... apparently! 🙄

If you had to ... I'm sure you could - just! 😉
