Sold Swifty Today
We bought a 2004 Swift Charisma Jura [Dealer Special] in Nov 2019 to see if towing a full sized caravan rather than a Gobur Folding Caravan would work for us. Bought it on the Thursday morning and set off 24 hours later for France & Spain. The 89 day trip proved to be Swifty's first, and last outing. We spent modest money upgrading to LED lighting whilst away and a couple of other upgrades/refurbs.
Sold Swifty today back to the Dealer for a really good price. As a result, the depreciation for our 89 day trip worked out at £12.66 per night!
Our [new to us] motorhome arrives on Wednesday. I doubt the depreciation will prove to be as low as Swifty's!

I must admit I'm one of the lucky few who has not had to worry about depreciation. We moved from trailer tents to Eriba's in 2003, buying a 2001 model. We sold this in 2007 at a profit, moving on to a new van bought in Belgium that we again sold for a profit in 2009. We had a couple of years gap with a Camplet trailer tent, guess what, again sold at a profit before returning to another used van in 2010 that we sold again at profit in 2016.
I'm not sure about our present 2017 van but private sales at present show we are fairly close to a full return of our money.

Swifty was a nice old caravan and we enjoyed using it. Caravan equivalent of an old pair of slippers.
But we intend to do more touring and like the idea of a quicker setup and pack down that the motorhome offers, not to mention trying to squeeze car + caravan onto 7m long pitches without it looking like a barricade against potential invaders.
