The last time I slept in a caravan was probably around the mid ‘80s and it would have been a ‘70s Sprite Alpine that my parents took us away in as kids.

Now I’m the parent and after doing tenting and surviving Storm Francis last year we decided that warmth and solid walls were for us.  The moment our local caravan dealer opened on Monday we were in there and are now awaiting the preparation and delivery of a 2014 Bailey Pegasus GT65 Rimini, due early May.  That gives us a couple of weeks to widen the drive and gateway to get in in!

We have just booked out first stay, May half term week, so fingers crossed the ‘van is OK.

Welcome back to caravanning, figbat. Hope the van is fine and you can soon get out to a site or four.

Welcome figbat.   Feel free to ask any questions and we'll do our best to assist; just have a look at the index and post wherever appropriate.

Welcome to this "mad world at times" of L/V ownership and to this forum, (a thick skin helps at times)wink there is plenty of advise ,and nothing is a silly question ,we have all been there

If as you say you are going to keep your C/van at home ,see if you can use it for a couple of days to get used to all the equipment ,especially ,as then you can get the dealer to advise or fix it,,before you get on site

Do not buy to much kit for it,as we all have rooms/garages full of things that we thought would be a "good idea"at the time

    Welcome, Figbat.

    Enjoy your new van.

Btw, we're not all mad and it's not a necessary qualification for membership🤣🤣

Thanks all - and good advice to have a go at home, I hadn't thought of that.  My daughter has already identified it as an annexe to the house for sleepovers and teenage girl things.

Hi figbat.  Welcome to Club Together and to the Caravan and Motorhome Club.  Fingers crossed that everything works out well for your handover and for the May outing.  Do let us know how you get on with it all.

We are the same. We pick up our van up on the 24th after viewing online. We had a van 25 years ago when the kids were little, now it will just be us and our two dogs! We are definitely having a couple of nights in it on the drive before our first stay in May which is 20 mins away from home so that we can set up and then nip back home to fetch the dogs!! I'm sure there will be some comedy moments on our first outing!!🤣🤣. Cannot wait!!

    Ha ha!

    Hello figbat.

You prompted a memory for me! I remember about 45 years ago when I was also on holiday with my Mum & Dad in a Sprite Alpine.

Last week we put a deposit on a Sprite Alpine 2 and are really looking forward to caravaning again.

    Hope you enjoy your Bailey.
