2 Night Stop Over
Hi Guys, We are going to Cornwall in July and looking for a stop over for a couple of nights. Approx 30 miles south of Bristol is our halfway point. Ideally somewhere quiet, tranquil and dog friendly (with good dog walks). We don't mind club site, CL or commercial but must have EHU and be reasonably close to the M5. A village or pub nearby would be good. Any recommendations?

I can't recommend a specific place but there are quite a few around the Highbridge and Bason Bridge area, Dutch Court looks nice and it's very flat around there so you should be able to get there easily even if there are some narrow lanes. You'll be away from the M5 but not too far and some good country walks, probably not near a pub so not spot on for your request. Hope you find somewhere!
(We live further south but normally drive through this area quite often.)

UKCampsite.co.uk has lots in the area on their map search - I glanced through them and Myrtle Farm at Banwell caught my eye. It has the right credentials and reviews but I don't know it personally.

Or....Hurn Lane Club site. That area is awash with all types of sites.
Where did you stop last year? Is that feasible again?

Is Taunton too far south? Have a look at Cornish Farm, friends (with dogs) have stayed and liked it, we haven't been ourselves. Not sure if they have a minimum stay requirement in July.
Edit - reviews on tripadvisor say 10 minutes from J25 and all look very positive. 👍

We have stayed at Cornish Farm a couple of times and I would agree that it would be a convenient stopover. However I am not sure it meets some of your other requirements, especially as you have a motorhome as I am sure you wouldn't want to take that into Taunton? You could walk but it is a good 2 miles or of course a taxi. Not sure about dogs, there is a large field next to the site but last time we were there it was full of cows! Best to check direct with the campsite.

What area are you travelling from FB? We do a slightly different route to SW, heading as we do from East of Midlands. We usually pick up M5 at Tewkesbury, or occasionally do M4/M5, which gives us lots of overnight options. Obviously, if you over West, then not of any use to you.

It’s probably 3 hours-ish to Godrevy from there but, as I said, there are loads of other sites in the area.
Don't forget Cadeside at Wellington as well. It’s almost next door to Chelston Motorhomes.

We use Exeter Racecourse a lot. The M5 is done with, easy access to both A30 and A38, so both routes to further South. Superb for dogs, good diner restaurant, fuel next door. Bristol to Exeter at most 2 hours, and that’s steady on the pedal, no hold ups of course. Lots to do in area as well, Topsham is lovely, some good eateries there.

Try searchforasite.com as they list not just sites but also stop overs such as pubs and parking areas that are suitable for M/Hs.

Hiya FB. I realise it’s a bit further south than an ideal, but you might want to consider Twelve Oaks, just outside Newton Abbot. Excellent facilities, swimming pool, and reasonable rates. We used to store our van there, and although it gets busy in peak period, it always felt relaxed. The A30 isn’t too far away either.
