It is illegal to overnight in a vehicle anywhere in LD laybys or roadsides. True wild camping, small tent, is permitted with the express permission of the landowner, and there is a good list of do’s and don’ts about how to do it with little environmental impact. On the plus side, the National Park is working with dozens of farmers to provide extra camping provision (not sure if this includes luxury vans and MHs) to avoid the illegal camping, littering etc... that happened last year.

I think you are both right, we were a filthy nation back in the 1950’s, and not that much better now....☹️

Back in the 50s the litter left was as bad as some areas now ,the diference being it was normally"bio degradable" as against the prolific use of plastic and takeaways  these days, plus we now have a "throw away" society and a much bigger populaton to do it,

Surely your club should cater for all members equally.  I know we have racism, sexism, and a thousand other ism's so what is the new ism called? undecided

"Many motorhomers over there even shun the plentiful official Aires across France and choose to stay as and where they wish - in the sand dunes at the Pointe de Trevignon, in the parking area at Monet's garden at Giverny, on most headlands across Brittany, in the long lay by beyond the zoo at La Palmyre - the list is endless."

cannot comment on France but this happens (happened) a lot in Spain  i say happened because the authorities are clamping down on it, and why, because of all the disgusting things that used to take place in sand dunes, on beaches hedgerows etc

"Local authorities in the UK must make those same decisions if they see it as a problem for them. It's up to them."

and our LA has done just that, at great expense to the local tax payer, height barriers have been installed, wooden stakes set in concrete on all grass areas/verges, mobile patrols to police the rules, maybe thats is why my local taxes went up by 5% this year undecided

I think this club does cater for all members equally.

In terms of sites, it offers the same product equally to all. Those who want a totally different site experience would surely not join. Similarly, I wouldn't join the RAC if I wanted a company specialising in marine recovery.🤷🏻‍♂️

    +1

The club offers what it offers. No one is forced to join the club and surely people join the club as it gives them what they want? If it didn't why join on the first place and/or why re-join?

.....a lot of new joiners are appearing these days, Corners, so I guess they want precisely what CAMC offers😄

I wasn't implying there was a golden age but there was an era with less traffic, less vehicles and less access to places. Certainly less food and drink container junk was thrown around..just the odd gas cooker! undecided

I doubt that many try before they buy so may only find the advantages and disadvantages after they begin to use the company's services.

But then they re-join in large numbers so I assume they must like what they find?

That is cheap, at Polpero they charge £25, no facilities just a car park, even during normal daylight hours they charge double the price of a normal motor car for MH's.foot-in-mouth

Not really, if you are referring to camp sites, cant remember when i last used a club site, but i still rejoin every year, but you get some good discounts at places like Mountain Warehouse etc, and i like some of their insurance products, or i did when we were allowed to travel cool

Agreed, but I was talking about the club's product in terms of sites.

Only a fool would join without thoroughly researching what’s on offer in advance. As folk happily renew year upon year, or take a break and rejoin, the advantages must be what people want.

No I was referring to the whole 'experience' of being a member. As I said upthread you join the club as it give you something you want, or as LLM said the company's services. And as people then re-join that can only mean they are satisfied with whatever it is they are getting.

And they are joining, and re-joining in spades. What does that say?

Or as you've stated previously that they are happy with "the club's services", basically what the club has to offer.

DK. I have to say your sausage roll analogy could raise questions here in Somerset. Our local headlines proclaimed today

HUGH GRANT SPOTTED WITH SAUSAGE ROLL IN FROME!

(makes a change from previous things he was spotted with..)

I presume he put the wrapper in a bin. wink

camping experience, grows they may well want the best of both worlds and I don't think the Club have taken that on board yet, but I suspect they have to if those new motorhome members start to think that the Club have a very limited offer so gradually the Club will have to evolve or they will lose those members?

And how do you think that the Club should address this?

There certainly are club members who "wild camp" responsibly, but there will be others who are members that disregarded the signs and "dirty camp", although they won't admit to doing so on here. There is no way any of us know whether they bother to read posts on this forum or not. There have been plenty of trolls who have posted on here in the past.

The club is for several type of LV  ,and have already spent a lot of money to help modern moter caravan owners who seem unable as done in the past to cope with pootly designed waste outlets on their vehicles (we modified ours to make them user friendly)

how much more sensibly  and cost effectively be done on any site ,not just both clubs ,that will be beneficial to all members/users not just one section, as with service points
