I've just heard that the former cabinet minister, Shirley Williams, has passed away at the age of 90 years.

    Not of my politics, But an Honest and Honourable Lady who kept popping her head above the barricades as and when required.

    Very interesting lady who I seem to recall stood for Southampton Test when I was a young lad, I seem to recall a car going around with loudspeakers, beats Facebook and Twitter any day!!! Unfortunately there does not seem to be room for such personalities in today's politics.

    Deeply committed, trail blazing female MP who was a pioneer back in the days when women had few to represent them. I always thought it was a huge shame the SDP couldn’t make a longer term stand to become an independent party. Her like are sadly missing today in Westminster. RIP
