looking at buying a front tow cover what are the pro's and con's
they range from £30 to £250

I think it is the material they are made of,the better the quality the less damage should be caused to the c/van
Most have clear plastic areas for roadlights ,so model specific
ps they normally are not big enough to cover the top area of Bailey middle long window

Do they really stop dings? A stone being thrown up at 50mph isn't really going to be stopped by a piece of fairly thin material strapped tight against the front of the van. I've got no doubt it will keep it nice and clean though.

The cheap ones tend to be 'universal fit' and therefore have a series of buckles that have to be tightened up for it to fit (the first time) and then clipped / unclipped every time it is fitted. A bit of a pain. The more expensive ones (about £200) are made to fit a particular caravan and usually have a zip and stretch material at the sides so they go on very easily.
If you swap your van, the universal fit can probably go on the new one whereas the made-to-measure one might not.
Having seen what can be thrown up onto the front of the van after travelling a short distance down a muddy B-road (usually behind a tractor!), I wouldn't tow without one. Plus you never know when you're going to come across a stretch of road that has recently been re-surfaced.
Well worth the investment, in my opinion.

We have had a Protec custom made front cover for many years. Having had, and seen, the mess and occasional damage done to the front of our older caravans we wouldn’t be without one now, especially on our local, farm type, roads! Yes they do get dirty but they are easy to clean.
