I just asked via the chat, if the new advice from the government that has prompted the Club statement regarding toilets can be published so members can read it for themselves.

I was given a link to the original government website in response, detailing information that has been unchanged for weeks.
I then pointed out that the Club website has said they have been waiting for “further clarification “ for several weeks , so they must have had some new guidance in the last 24 hours and could we see it?

I was then told to email enquiries@camc.com to request this information.
Perhaps if enough of us ask ,we maybe able to see the new guidance which appears to have clarified what was a very unclear situation?

I think when the "route out" of the latest lockdown was publised by HMG the club were hoping that they may change the instruction hence "waiting clarification" but nothing has changed , so the statement from the club has just reiterated what HMG first implimented, there is nothing new,

Not sure what Fakenham racecourse are advisng?"

The email we have received today from Fakenham Racecourse camp site states that their amenity blocks will be open, but they are recommending that people use their own facilities.

I can only assume that because they are primarily a racecourse, with the campsite a secondary facility, different rules apply.

As always, I could be very wrong 😉🙂

I had a look and they're not allowing washing up...seems a bit odd. Carnon Downs have got somebody on duty to clean the showers after every single use...what a task to undertake!

Earlier in the thread it was noted that facilities could according to government guidelines be allowed to open. The club has obviously decided to be cautious and not open facilities on its sites.

I wonder if CL's are obliged to follow the C&MC lead or can if they wish decide to legally open toilet facilities.

I doubt that many CLs will be opening their facilities in the near future, even after the 17th May, because of all the extra work involved in ensuring that they are hygienic enough. It won't bother us we use our own facilities virtually all the time. We have no intention of using the facilities on a club site, should we visit one this year.

Why not simply accept that the CAMC is finally correctly acting on HMG guidelines?

I'm not arguing about what the C&MC site wishes to do and I do not wish to visit one at the present. I accept that is how they wish to go forward and this is not the question I raised..

As stated "Earlier in the thread it was noted that facilities could according to government guidelines be allowed to open"

I want to know if "CL's are obliged to follow the C&MC lead or can if they wish decide to legally open toilet facilities."

I doubt anyone other than a CL owner or club official has a clue about that, EM.

I thought hospitality and retail sector businesses could open their toilets? I seem to recall leisure centres and gyms can open their showers and toilets.

This would seem to suggest the restriction is rather random (or new regimes have been mandated).

I don't really feel the need to post anymore on this topic.

    Just seen on another forum;

    "CAMPSITE UPDATE – 30th March 2021
    Great News!

We have now been told we can open ALL our washing facilities including the toilet and shower block with social distancing in place, from the 12th April.

We are currently looking at the details and will post further information when we know more.

Sorry for all of you who cancelled or transferred your bookings, we received a letter yesterday afternoon from Cornwall Council."

The site in question apologised to all those that had cancelled/postponed

I visit two CAMC sites in the Lake District on an annual basis, one with all-singing-all-dancing toilet blocks, the other with none. The nightly price difference is significant for that very reason.

I have an end of April booking at the TOILET BLOCK site.

Will I now receive a discount due to the site being unable to meet its contractual obligations in providing toilet and washing facilities????

I doubt it and people will follow like sheep and accept  What I dont understand is that my golf club has opened, communal toilets and showers open. Motorway serviced toilets and showers open  Shops toilets open. Public toilets open. But the caravan club never makes a case for us!

And I will no cancel 4 sites and use smaller cheaper sites.

If as A&J’s post indicates, the clarification is coming from the local council, the golf club and independent sites will be in a slightly different position to the CAMC with sites all over the country. If local authorities are issuing different clarifications for sites in their areas, it would make it very difficult for the club to manage. It would be much easier to close all and make a general statement, as they have done.

Sheep, eh? That's your fellow members you're talking about.

There's no need to understand the decision. The club have decided and, irrespective of Govt guidance, that's all there is to it.

Don't understand? There is a huge difference, public toilets are open for those small number of us unfortunately taken short during a few hours of a day. Not for multiple households to use for all their essential everyday ablutions for what is to all intents and purposes 24/7.

As far as the legislation is concerned for places of overnight stays nothing has changed since the start of this thread. Not the club's interpretation but that stated in the government's directive!

It's  about  reducing spread as best possible particularly where venues like holiday sites have visitors from all corners of the country descending upon them.

I was trying to keep my post brief, while giving an example of the 'confusion', and should mention the reason I noticed the post I quoted was as it was in Cornwall.

The site in question had previously said its blocks would not open hence the cancellations etc. and It will be interesting to see if this is followed by even more clarification!

As said before if a site decides its blocks will be closed thats that and, whilst not in a position to have to make that decision, I would not be opening them till May 17th at the earliest.

We have booked a couple of sites in the full knowledge that the toilet blocks would probably be closed.  It doesn’t bother us as we always use our own facilities anyway but I understand that a small camper van would have more of a problem.  In those cases they may have to wait to see how things develop before booking anywhere.  Looking at the pictures of various parks and coastal resorts yesterday with all the irresponsible crowds, I’m dreading another spike in cases.  In which case they may all stay closed for much longer or indeed have to close the sites again if the Government decide.

No body follows  as your "like sheep" rude post

I hope  that the places that are sxpecting to open their facilities will have a very enhanced cleaning regime in place? but it seems if they have ,the majority are  NOT open for 24hrs as camp site arewhich would entail staff being on duty for the same periods to monitor the facilities and clean when used

Indeed heddlo. I have been watching South Yorkshire’s case rates. They have risen by a quarter in the last two weeks. Anyone who thinks we are out of the deep woods yet needs to have a serious rethink. It’s not the only area with rising case rates either. I am all for getting back out there, getting a degree of normality back, but there will still need care taken, some compromises that protect the majority. We have our breaks booked, but under our terms.

Might not be that many though. On sites close to us, Poolsbrook shows 1 Friday the 16th and 2 Saturday 17th, it was previously full. Clumber is still 0 and 0, no change. Early days yet though, some may not yet realise.😀

I will be going to that site and I will add more info when I am back. I will also take another shot of the bookings just after the 72 hour deadline. It may well fill up?

It is a popular site, normally difficult to get a booking, look at the bookings in May and June.

Rookesbury Park is the place to go, lots of availability, might give it a shot, could drive home to use the facilities laughing
