The key factor is fire breaks not always pitch width. I've been on adjacent pitches which appeared large but not all of the space could be used for an awning of that size. You could use the space for other purposes mind. Prudent to check site staff before erecting I'd say!

Pitch sizes do vary, without a doubt and that's one big lump of an awning. It'll be about spacing as well as the actual size of the HS so perhaps it's best to contact the club and ask.

Well spotted, M!
Take note, Armourer, you cannot specify surface type when booking a pitch.

We have certainly been on awning pitches, where because of fire regs the peg has been positioned, so that a 3 metre awning would not fit. That’s in the normal position for a UK van hitch out. There was plenty of room on the other side, where the car normally goes, but this would require going hitch in. As you are normally free to choose your pitch, this wouldn’t generally be a problem as you would find one with sufficient room. Moreton in the Marsh stands out in this respect. The awning pitch we had, barely had room for our roll out canopy and that applied to quite a few. Although they are currently refurbishing them, so perhaps things might improve.

I can echo Steve.
We found a pitch at Meathop Fell site (Grange-over-Sands) when we had a small caravan and car that only just fitted a bog standard porch awning on it so it can be site specific.
Generally, especially with those sites that have been refurbished in recent years you should be fine

I have used a 3M deep awning on club sites for about 9 years and never had any problems.

No need for that rather rude final sentence, A. I don't know either of the sites you refer to - are they 100% HS? I'm pretty certain though that, in general, you can't book a HS pitch on most club sites. But I won't be looking at all since we're vanless these days,

If check out Ayr Craigie gardens you will see that they have 90 pitches and they are all hard standing. So you don’t have a choice. Hard standing is all you can have.
Culloden have 12 grass pitches which if you check are all in yellow for the rest of the year, so you can’t have one of those this year, only hard standing I am afraid.

The only time you are almost? sure of a hardstanding pitch on cc sites is by booking serviced pitches
Some sites on the network have large amounts of hardstanding awning pitches if you check the site layout map for the site you are thinking of booking ,it will show service and, hardstanding pitches awning and non awniing

Having used Ayr Craigie Gardens a number of times, I would say that the pitches are not the biggest and that you might struggle to fit on a 3m deep awning in comfort.
if you want to have everything on the gravel......car with a bit of space for the passenger to alight on the gravel......space for Aquaroll and Wastemaster and room to open drivers door comfortably.......caravan........awning and space to access on hardstanding......space to peg out guylines.........you need a wide pitch.
We have used a few sites where they insist that EVERYTHING must be on the HS......no pegging guylines out on the grass.
