I didn't watch but I've heard it was enough to put people off coming to Cornwall for ever!

It certainly hasn't put me off Cornwall, but I don't think Tencreek or the site at Brean are our cup of tea....   We tend to avoid sites with 'entertainment'....  smile

I'll stick to Globe Vale..... it has a small bar on site, and that's about it - apart from the fact that it's really well kept and looked after.  I'm sure there are plenty that go for 'entertainment' sites...

I hope they will show the 'other side ' of camp sites later on in the series.

Some years back we were given passes to use the pool there as we were helping out with some childcare.

The brief views shown actually looked a lot better than we remember the site looking.

When we visited it seemed to be a lot of seasonal pitches occupied by grubby caravans with dilapidated and dirty awnings.

On the bright side I thought the picture painted so poor that maybe we wont get the influx that is anticipated.

Everything being fine does not make for successful ratings on "reality" TV.

I have stayed on one such "entertainment holiday camp" and the programme did match my observations, though I was a bit aghast at the brief shot of a chap golfing down between two rows of caravans!

Am I right in thinking it is the site next to the Club site ?. If so we have used the onsite shop whilst stopping at Looe Caravan Club site.....that was enough. yell

What surprised me was the guy who blamed the pitch/site/staff because he couldn't hammer his awning pegs in. Along came the maintenance chap with rock pegs - simple. We carried rock pegs from our first days of caravanning and used them very often, especially at the Moreton in Marsh site. Sometimes even rock pegs took some hammering there.

    No, its not.

The club site is East Looe, this is West.

Mind you, on the BBC news website yesterday a story about the Looe RNLI was headlined as Devon.

Never mind the pegs-why , when there was a sign re face masks, did neither guy have one on when in the reception, and could you decipher the comments about what was, and was not, an awning??

I think she meant that the awning featured was a drive away one, what that had to do with the pegging issue was unclear but guessing it was that they should not have been on a hard standing pitch.

He was even trying to pitch his tent on the grass 'fire break' strip, between pitches, not on his hardstanding pitch. Would any site allow that if the cameras were not there? Having stayed on Unity Farm in our very early days of caravaning is the reason we joined this club!! Hurn Lane looked so much more inviting.

I'm guessing that some people with kids want to just have them entertained, swimming pool, entertainer, arcades. Some adults want the bar, drinks and entertainment. My daughter used to work as a receptionist in a holiday park, some of the stories you just wouldn't believe, especially after some holidaymakers had a few drinks.  Personally I'd rather stop home than go to some of these sites. Fortunately there are also the more peaceful sites around.

We found Hurn Lane a lovely site, but the surrounding area was just not our cup of tea... even out of season the holiday camps looked pretty grim.  I'm sure there must be plenty of folk who love these places, but sadly (or fortunately.. !!), I'm not one of them...

I wonder if future episodes in the series, might show a different side to caravanning?

I thought the staff were great dealing with the general public in all it's glory!

The children's entertainer reminded me of the Hi de Hi character who hated children, his poor side kick won't last long! wink (You've played the wrong music again Jim.....laughing)

The couple needing the TV aerial repairs, were lucky, but thirty odd years going to the same caravan site deserves something. wink

It looked better on last nights program, but when we visited it appeared that the vans and awnings had not been cleaned in 30 years.

Some of the visitors to the sites on the tv program are  the same as some that use club sites,  who to blame others (site staff normally) for their own failings and lack of common sense, as most site staff any where ,will i am sure agree, surprised

and can be seen on some site reviewsundecided

And it does make for TV  "good"viewing wink

.....absolutely right about the TV viewing bit.  Unfortunately, the 'general public' may not get a balanced view of caravanning, should all the programmes feature similar types of site.  On the other hand, with the projected increase in interest in caravanning, perhaps that might put some folk off and leave just a few pitches available for the rest of us....??  winkwinkwink

Is it ever possible to make a programme about camping and caravanning look enticing?! wink

we watched it too found it ok but wouldn’t go to the sites. We were at Looe a few years ago staying on the club site and liked it and the area was nice too it would have been nice if they would have showed a bit of the town and the surrounding area. We stayed many years ago at Burnham on a site called Home Farm but didn’t really enjoy it it was a big site with entertainment etc but the pitches were close together and there was a full game of cricket going on one night right behind our van with the ball hitting off it a few times not our thing we are actually off back down to Brean in the summer but are staying at Hurn Lane

    Are you not being Channelist?!!

It was the 2020 channel of the year-dont watch much on it, some good travel related stuff, but don't think any channel now cannot be accused of broadcasting rubbish.

'Rubbish' is in the eye of the beholder.....  to slightly alter a well known phrase.... 😆😆😆  My wife,  son and youngest daughter always tell me I watch rubbish on the TV.  However, my eldest daughter often agrees with my tv choices... except I don't like Love Island... 🤣🤣🤣

Remember that this series is not about caravans, or camping, or even running holiday camps.  It, like so many others at present, is about people watching.
