Hello,  Just joined C&MH Club today.  We've been members of the CCClub for 3 years and decided we want to try you lot too....!

Can't wait to get back in the caravan again, we have booked trips each month in 2021 but clearly have had to cancel jan/feb/march.

Hopefully OK for York area (visiting grandkids) is mid April.

Looking forward to finding what's different and better with this Club rather than the CCClub.

Being both retired, we tend to try and get away for a week each month and then a longer trip in August/September.  We're new to caravanning (as of 2018) but spent a month in Northern France in 2018 and then again in Southern France in 2019. (they were the days).

We travel with our 3 yr old Jack Russel (Stanley) but now we have another one (Frank) to join in the fun.  Hopefully the puppy will take to the caravan as well as Stan has.

Welcome to the club, hope that you find it to your liking. A little different from the C&CC, sites are busier at weekends, and in general facilities are slightly better, by not being as old. We find that we prefer the CLs to the CSs, but I guess that's just a personal choice.

    Thanks for the welcome.

We've not tried a CL or a CS are we missing out?

We do like a site mainly because of it's location, proximity to a beach (for the dogs) and a pub would be ideal.

Are the CL sites listed somewhere or do you hear about them by recommendation.

I'd happily use some of the "nicer" ones rather than pitch up in a cow's field but how do you find them?

Welcome to yet another Fun Factory, CH.

I hope you enjoy the variety of sites you now have giving increased coverage of our Green and Pleasant Land ( When its not under water that is  wink )

The CLs are listed in the Club Site Directory, with updates available on here and in the Club Magazine.  Many members use them almost { I did say almost  }  to the exclusion of the main sites. But I think that's mainly to keep away from my sense of humour  laughing.

    Welcome, CraigHew.

You'll find the CLs listed in the UK Holidays section of this website and in the Sites Directory when it arrives. In fact, you'll learn a lot by dipping into the website.

Welcome to the Club and the Forum CH.

"We've not tried a CL or a CS are we missing out?"

Well, I for one, would say definitely, "Yes"smile  There are some real gems out there - from full facility sites with serviced pitches and beautiful toilet blocks to more basic sites - certainly a long way from the 'cow's field' image.

Look at on-line reviews - use Google Maps to get a feel for the place and be wary of those who do not publish photographs - there's often a reason (although not always).

Another advantage of the CL / CS site - especially at the moment is that you're usually away from the crowds.

Some years ago, I drew up a shortlist of about a dozen sites about an hour or so away from home and spent the day, driving around, having a look at them.  We made our choices and some of them are regular bolt-holes when we're not wishing to travel so far.  (There were also some horrors and a lot of artistic licence in their written descriptions!)

Welcome. When we started off with a caravan back in 2003 we joined both organisations. After a couple of years we dropped the C&CC. I've been asked many times what is the difference and when pushed came up with the C&MC is more of a business where the C&CC is more of a club. Just my point of view, others will obviously think differently.

We started using CL's a few years ago as I'm mean with my money, With a bit of searching, checking reviews and as stated earlier use of Google Maps you can find some lovely sites, with facilities for a fraction of the cost of main sites. These are now our default setting.

CraigHew, if you are a Facebook user there's a CL Booking Group which includes as members about 10% of the club's total of about 2200 CLs, which  has a series of maps, which should help you select one of more to meet your requirements. There are a couple of sections in the CL part of this forum which would also assist you.

Welcome to CT, lots of info on here if you look through the site. We belong to both clubs, have found they compliment each other.

Hi Craig...   Welcome to the CAMC and to Club Together.  Many of us are members of both Clubs and will choose the site accordingly to availability and location.  These days we tend to prefer 'serviced pitches'  (I think the C&CC call them super serviced), but the C&CC have fewer of these across their network.  We've only booked two C&CC sites (including a SS pitch at Devizes), up until the end of August compared to three private sites and seven CAMC sites.  Haven't thought as far ahead as the autumn yet.

Great to have you on board and look forward to hearing how you get on this year.  I think we're all looking forward to getting out and about in our caravans and returning to at least some sense of normality.

    David

I guess it was an attempt to get you to respond and let us know that you had read the responses to you question about sites. There are are some new members who pose questions and never come back to the post to acknowledge that they have bother to read the answers to their questions. I for one consider it good manners to show that one has taken the time to come back to ones OP.

yes I've read each and every reply with interest.

Such a good system to be able to"follow" a thread and be informed of each new post.

Thanks for the replies thus far, we're looking at CLs with great anticipation now, there are some great looking ones out there.

If there is an area that you particularly want to visit, just drop a post and there are plenty on here who could come up with suitable suggestions.
