The new total cost will be 7/8ths of the price quoted when booking. Simpleslaughing

Either method you get the answer but using the 7/8s method is two less keystrokes on the calculator. cool

    Calculator?!! undecided

Better to use the old noodle, surely?  I reckon most pupils from year 7 upwards could at least work out a rough answer in their heads! laughing

Slightly off topic, but that reminds me of a lecture I took a group of 6th formers to some years ago. It was all to do with methods of calculation and the lecturer had drafted in 4 students, one with a slide rule, one with a calculator, one with an abacus (a Chinese guy) and one with just pen and paper. He set them a number of calculations to do and the guy with the abacus won every time. No idea how he did it, fingers flying but he was always spot on! smile

The VAT reduction is variable until March 2022.

The easiest way to discover what the VAT element is is to divide the quoted price by 120 then multiply by 5 or 12.5 to work your final payment per night.
