We are keen to get out again but we will wait until the experts say we are good to go. Taking advantage of the easing of restrictions is fine but taking a mile when you are given an inch is just plain stupid. Of course those that do will be the ones moaning most loudly when we end up with yet another lockdown.

Think outside the box. 🤔 You can get a small porta potti type loo, that stows out of way, many small camper vans, and tents already use them. And then there’s good old fashioned strip wash, the touring standby back in the days prior to glitzy on board bathrooms. I accept that there might be some who simply cannot manage the above, but for most folks, it will all be about getting back out, coping with a bit of change, happy to get back out there. Or stay at home until things are back to normal.............

Now you know why we are keen on wild swimming😂
Seriously, when we first took to touring, we had a tiny camper, had to use sites with loos and showers. But back in those days, some of the showers were minging. It was far nicer to get up, go for a swim than risk the toads, spiders, fungus, horrors left behind by others. Our first van had a bathroom, porta potti and sink, no shower. You just got on with a decent strip wash, it wasn’t worth the wait for the single on site shower😂 Revelation when we got our second van, full onboard shower. We still have it, 25 years on!
Don’t use wet wipes, horrible fat burger fodder. 😉0 -
Hi DSB
We did some holiday cover at Grafham back in October, lovely site to work at. Ask the staff about the owl and the best time of an evening to watch it feed. There's a bird table behind reception where some meat is placed for his dinner. He loves a quiet audience! I've some great video such a grand bird

Read today that Westminster Gov is looking at extending the interval between inoculations from 12 weeks to 15 weeks because the dosage ordering calculations omitted the second injection cohort.

That will create a lot of angry people, if true. Don't these politicians think beyond the end of their noses?

Any source link for this ?
I did a quick google search and couldn’t find anything.
I don’t recall any mention in yesterday’s briefing. Just JVT telling us to make sure we go for our second dose. Given the millions of appointments that would have to be rearranged, it seems somewhat unlikely.0 -
Agreed, SL. The supposed shortage sounds like just another rumour to me.
.....nor is it likely to impact on site arrival times😄

Please tell us where you read this. Its amazing that your source of information knows so much detail about what the UK Government is looking at and even the reasons why! We were informed a couple of days ago by the Government that the UK vaccine supply surplus is being to needy countries.

It should be remembered that the UK Government backed many horses in the vaccine race and as a result will end up with many times the required number of doses for the UK. It therefore makes sense to distribute these excess vaccines to poorer countries working on the basis that none of us are safe until all of us are safe.
On Steve's point on extending the time gap between first and second doses I have not seen any mention of that but if the effectiveness of the first dose remains strong for longer than first thought it would make sense to concentrate on everyone getting a first dose. Until we see the science it is difficult to comment but I can see it as a possibility. I appreciate from the narrow outlook of getting away in our vans it could be disappointing but perhaps we shouldn't worry about it until or if it happens. Even if they did I somehow doubt they would require everyone with a second dose already booked to cancel and rebook as that would cause chaos, more likely they would extend the period of those people getting their first dose in the future?

It was quite late last night when I posted and I couldn't find the original article which, IIRC, was on the Guardian rolling series of mini articles that often feed to/from the Coronavirus Live/Politics Live combined blog. I don't make a habit of posting unreferenced information, since I dislike the rumour mill as much as anyone else.

I think the main info out there is that the present longer vaccine gaps are ok after the initial proposal for a shorter gap.
If France and Germany now believe the science this will improve the chances for travel for everyone.
The UK has done well so far. Locally there's a big call for more volunteers to keep the programme on schedule. Lack of volunteers could slow things up over the summer....so don't all rush off, there'll be no-one around to help with the jabs!

It would be good if France and Germany and perhaps the rest of Europe would get a wriggle on.
As I said a while back volunteer fatigue is going to be a problem and we now need more as dates for the people due their second jab start to tip up.

Any information from the Guardian is immediately suspect. That rag has been repeatedly criticised in recent weeks by scientists for completely misrepresenting vaccine test data and undermining the vaccine programme, including the efficacy for older people. I have never read such ill informed editorial claptrap written by allegedly educated liberals. They are masters at slyly putting out rumours and then backing away when the damage is done.

alas by next Easter Mrs C will be out of it and it will cease to be a 'peak booking time' for us.
