Check both car and van weights as the kuga is not a very heavy car and the twin axle bailey may be over the recommend towing ratio.

Many manufacturers will give a 2000kg tow limit on their vehicles which if often higher than the actual weight of the vehicle
And as noted in the latest Mayday/Green flag information
I quote "we. will cover it when the caravan/trailer when loaded and weighs no more than the empty weight of the vehicle towing it

I have towed a twin axle caravan extensively at 96% of the cars (Antara) mass in service.
This included trips through Europe to Northern Italy, down to Provence and in the UK up to the highlands and down to Cornwall.
I wouldn't hesitate to do the same again though I currently tow a lighter 'van with a 2wd 2 litre 150ps Kuga.
As long as you are legal, within manufacturer limits then it is no problem.
Of course you will always find people who don't agree and will tut tut at you for doing so but invariably this will be people who have never done it and slavishly stick to the 85% 'rule', despite that being the one recommended for inexperienced towers.

Just sort of replying to your last two paragraphs and also I tow with a Kuga.
What I fail to understand the max towing figures for a 2 litre 4x4 Kuga is 2100kg to me this figure is rediculously high, this figure is allowing me to tow say a Elddis Crusader Borealis twin wheel base monster at 1800kg if I wanted to.
This is quite a popular question on social media sites with replies "yes it will tow 2100kg."
I am one of those towers that still prefer the old fashioned 85% guideline,
To really be honest,I could not explain towing ratio's, nowadays especially ,the legal, side of it,and it would be interesting how many people really do understand it.

The question was does anyone tow a twin axle caravan with a ford kuga so wanted to hear from people who did he is a experienced at towing caravans so as long as caravan weight is lower than car he will be in line with both clubs guide lines 100% for experienced towers the 2100 kg is the legal limit doesn’t ask about other makes of cars people start talking about there cars which is not wote was being asked

isn't the quoted 2100kg what the vehicle can pull when starting from a stand still on a specific slope? as long as you don't exceed the quoted figures for the car, it doesn't say that the car has to be heavier than the trailer. The max train weight of my car is 6550kg .... my car 'only' weighs around 2200kg
That's not to say I'll be towing a 3500kg trailer though on the road.

In the kuga hand book 2100 kg is legal weight car can tow both clubs recommend not to tow over 100% of car people wear saying 85%was recommended limit that’s not the case for experienced towers it all balls down to wote you feel safe towing and is legal

With out checking the precise figures. the legal max for my Kuga is around 300kg over it's mass in service.
I personally wouldn't be attempting to to that.
My current 'up plated' van is 1500kg MTLPM and comes in at around 90% of my Kuga's Mass in service. And I am perfectly happy with that.

I mentioned 'other cars' because I was addressing the general issue of towing a large twin axle at up to 100%. Something I have extensive experience of.
Please don't try to dictate how people choose to answer the original question.
My response was perfectly relevant to the discussion.

Hi think most caravans are fitted with act which stops snaking by putting on the brakes of caravan and pulling van straight again my last 2 vans have both had it fitted would not tow van with out that fitted think most people would of had van snake at some time in the past with out act fitted think member was only asking about kuga not other cars so don’t see relevant to discussion

I'm really pleased with my AWD Kuga particularly during the present snowy conditions. I only tow a single axle caravan with the standard Al-Ko tow-ball stabilizer. There is clearly plenty of power and the outfit is perfectly stable. I thought twin axles are supposed to be more stable than single axles. In addition the Bailey will have trailer control and the Ford system can also be enabled on a Kuga with factory fitted tow bar. If the weight ratio is somewhere around 100% it should be a good match.

The 180 Kuga has a good amount of ‘grunt’, and I’m very pleased with mine in that respect, but it’s not the heaviest, coming in at around 1725kg’s, from memory. As for twin axle stability, as compared with single axle, I’ve not seen anything definitive that states they are more stable. My Challenger has ATC, which is comforting, but I wouldn’t want to put it to the test. Since my ‘snaking’ incident, I now tend to be a lot more cautious, only overtaking high-sided vehicles on the flat, or uphill. That’s only my experience though.

Yes.
Most of us know how ATC works. The op didnt ask about how it does so its not relevent to the discussion, (to use your analogy of relevent off topic responses)
As to other cars, I have already explained why the mention of towing at 96% with another vehicle is relevant.
I take it you didnt read it.

Hi Freddy. No I didn't mean that. I have a none factory fitted tow bar and it is therefore not enabled. It still tows really well.

I never realised a Ford Kuga was such a controversial vehicle, judging by the number of removals.
