Insurance renewal....

Just thought that I'd post something positive & gratefully accepted....

My insurance renewal with Comfort Insurance through Aviva arrived yesterday & was £25 cheaper than last year.... admittedly we have all done less mileage but considering my home insurance renewal came through a week ago & was +22% more expensive when inflation is about 1% I was well pleased....

Needless to say I promptly renewed with Comfort & purchased Contents & Buildings elsewhere!

It is nice to read good news, and undoubtedly lockdown has had something to do with each. Less out on the road, more time indoors so adjustments accordingly 🤣. Inflation? Said in the tone of a handbag? 🤣

Hi Kasspa, As my tourer insurance is due decided to try Comfort for a quote.

They are a little more expensive, and will not price match so likely to stick with current insurers.

I was also disappointed  that the person I spoke with knew less about the product than I did from looking at the info on their website telling me there was no cover for loss of use!

Should be getting our renewal through from Comfort in the next week or so. Will keep fingers crossed.🤞 Given it has spent about 330 days of the year in a gold standard compound, it shouldn't really go up.

Hi Steve, yes many of us have been static but I think the risk of theft is much higher when not using it than if I were in it..... fingers crossed for your renewal...

I paid just under £400 last year to insure my motorhome with the Club. I am sure I checked out other well known insurers who were very similar. Be interesting to see what this year brings, I managed 600 miles in my motorhome in 2020 so I would be disappointed if prices had increased substantially.

Same here. Just under £400 last year and just over £400 this year (NFU).

There wasn't a big enough increase to make it worth the hassle of shopping around.

Our motorhome insurance with CAMC was £256, renewals over the year have been slightly less.

Ours did go up when we bought the new van. The old one was slightly cheaper. So many things can make a difference.🤷🏻‍♂️

I believe most insurance has gone down due to the effects of Covid, less driving, people at home  etc. Our car insurance went down on renewal.

Caravanguard wanted a higher premium in December. Switched back to Saga at £400.

I've been with Lifesure since 2014 and never seen a price jump. This year is very different so I shopped around as I do with car and house insurance and found prices in general were high.

Cover4Caravans and Ripe Insurance [a new one for me] are the exceptions. I know we all have different requirements but after adding Europe, low x/s, protected ncd, legal expenses etc for £26K caravan I'm looking at £260/280 for a Liverpool postcode on a van kept in a locked garage at home address.

Do have an alarm and Alko wheel lock as mine is a few pence more than £330 with CMC with these

    Hi Dave,

Comfort insurance £336 at my renewal, this is without breakdown as I'm still covered by Fiat, I think + breakdown will add about £60....

Obviously a lot depends on your age, postcode & value of motorhome.

    Hope this helps

My renewal quote from Cover4caravans is £233, £25k van, new for old,  Europe etc.

Best alternative so far is My Insurance at £231.

Hi all, my CAMC quote has just come in by email, up 15.5%; now £419.

We hardly used it last year, like most of you and in secure Gold CASSOA CAMC storage costing £656 pa.

They have nerve for anything down there.      Insurance is based on risk, so if you only do a fraction of the normal mileage the risk of damage or theft is massively reduced.      I will contact them tomorrow when I have calmed down!!

my car insurer sent me a cheque for £50 because we were not doing the mileage and we didn’t have to ask for that.

Trouble is, as I said in my earlier post, I would consider risk of 'theft' higher when I wasn't using it....

My CAMC renewal quote came today and it is £11 cheaper than last year even though I have now reached 70 years of age and as the van is our only vehicle we have been using it although we haven't done anywhere near as many miles as previous years.

Quotes obviously vary and are dependent on so many factors. There is something to be said for getting other quotes if one feels that a price is too high.  For17 years I found CCC cheapest for the cover I required but three years ago the the price rose considerably so I changed to CAMC which of the companies I tried gave the best price. Having said that, customer loyalty should be a factor but sadly isn't always so.)
