Our whole World will shoot up in price, every item & every commodity will increase. The books need balancing & we are the payers, the worker ants as there are more of us. Now is a good time to buy your accountant a nice bottle of good Malt whiskey as an investment👍🏻👏🏻

Not necessarily.......businesses, like domestic consumers, will have a contract for energy supplies at a price that is fixed for the contract period.   OH has just negotiated a fixed price for our local Guide Hall that runs for 3 years.

Agreed. The cost of everything will rise including site fees as operators' costs spiral. The less fortunate amongst us will find keeping/buying LVs becomes out of reach. Many will give up the hobby and others will pare their expenditure to the bone.

I fear the economic future does not look bright for any of us.

Whilst not disagreeing, rising prices only affect you if you buy the product. I'm sure that people who have struggled financially over the last year will start to ask themselves "Is it absolutely necessary to buy something that we could easily live without"

Try easily living without water, heating, lighting, cooking fuel, council services, a Police Force, a Fire Brigade, and basic food Mikey. Why do you think so many in UK have to use Food Banks and Charity Shops?

There’s an entirely different Britain out there away from Clubland, leafy suburbs and one’s chosen touring outfit......

I never said we couldn't live without the necessities but how many of the younger generation think it is necessary to always have the latest phone, clothes etc. In the middle age group the latest massive widescreen TV seems to be essential and even the well off older generation seem to enjoy the latest caravans, largest awnings etc.

I totally accept that there is a increasing number who rely on food banks etc (which is a national disgrace) but just maybe the lasting effect of Covid may be a return to the values of the past, where we don't spend every penny we earn but put some savings away for that rainy day.

You are right Mikey there will definitely be a significant shift in the priorities people place on different things.

Maybe? we will be more prudent as I remember when it was a case of "thats nice ,do I want it yes, do I need it no" instead of as it seems in a lot of todays society, "i must have that" undecided

No,  I didn't miss the word easily

I accept that increasing prices in the basic services required to live will have to borne  but my point, which you are seemingly intentionally ignoring,  is the population will have reduce the purchase of  frivolous items - in other words " cut the coat to suit the cloth"

Actually I don’t disagree with you Mikey, you are right when you say that in future more folks may have to make a better choice around whether or not to have the latest consumables. But at least those folks have the choice. I don’t think it’s an age related thing either to a certain extent, older folks are just as culpable in terms of wanting the “must haves” as are the younger age range. It’s a generational thing now. Almost everyone who has enough to spend seldom thinks twice about purchasing, the main difference is in how to pay/ afford something, and what the trade off might be for having that item. The prudent ones will ask if they can afford it, the not so prudent might incur debt to achieve their hearts desire.
I come from a prudent background, I don’t lust unnecessarily about not having the newest car, the shiniest hi tech touring outfit, or the latest smart phone/TV/designer clothes. Some of the debts that work colleagues took on I couldn’t cope with. I even had one who took out a loan to fund the honeymoon of his dreams. His debt lasted longer than his marriage🤷‍♀️
I do fear greatly that more of our population is going to struggle for life’s necessities rather than life’s luxuries in the next few years. It will need a mindset change for some, better working conditions and pay for others, and the kind of luck/prudence I enjoyed in my early years to get a lot through it.

Mobile phones are a Frivolous  item when everyone it seems has to have the latest model ,as I have been told "I get it as part of my contract ?" But when I say if you do not accept the phone how much cheaper could your contract be ?which will save you money" ,It normally is met with a reply something like "but my current phone is not up to dateyell

Well, I struggle to see how I can find an alternative to gas/electric/oil to heat a home🤷🏻‍♂️. If the Govt of the day increase tax-you pay it. If they increase VAT you may swerve that-but for how long unless you change to dressing using thrift shops, food prices will rise-guaranteed via a double whammy. Your ‘whilst not disagreeing’ MA has a big lean towards disagreeing😊(PS-it’s healthy to have an alternative opinion👍🏻)

‘I must have that’ is a good reason not to set ourselves back into a bygone time of austerity-enjoy your life-it won’t last forever👍🏻

pS-my last word on it JWJ👍🏻
