depends on what you're planning on towing 😉 I'd only ever consider an auto ('proper' slush box auto) whether towing or not

We Have an 8yr old 2ltr diesel Sportage Auto and it is a very fine tow car

not sure about later Sportage with the 1.6 engine or the later gear boxes,   the dealer has given up trying to convince met they are as good?

I had a 13 reg Sportage CRDI 2.0 Diesel and towed my 1500kg Lunar Clubman to Northern Spain and back twice a year.

it was an excellent tow car even on the inclines in Southern France.

I don’t think I would have considered towing that caravan with a 1.6 Diesel.

I changed it for a Sorento three years ago.

You can use one of the Tow car matching sites to get some more information

Depends what you are towing.  Our last couple of tow cars were Sportage Diesel Automatics.  Dont have one now so cant tell you what engine it was.  We had a 2 berth Bailey caravan (2 single beds, good end washroom)
