MOTs, Servicing and Hab Checks

My caravan service is booked towards the end of March, for the past several years we have had it serviced on site at our storage facility.
We missed out last year because our independent service engineer wasn't allowed on site to do the planned service in April 2020.
See the email from my storage company, it's my intention to remove my caravan to my nephew's house to use his driveway & have it done there if its the same situation this year, he lives approximately 2 miles from the West Hallam site.
Access is still available to all users of the site for certain reasons , but certain COVID-19 procedures are in force & it's a no contact entry & exit to the site, both for visitors & the 24/7 security staff.
Indeed if anyone other visitor is within 15 metres of my unit, I'm not allowed to leave my car until they have gone.

Which part of the following law do you not understand?
Leaving home
You must not leave, or be outside of your home except where necessary. You may leave the home to:shop for basic necessities, for you or a vulnerable person
go to work, or provide voluntary or charitable services, if you cannot reasonably do so from home
exercise with your household (or support bubble) or one other person (in which case you should stay 2m apart). Exercise should be limited to once per day, and you should not travel outside your local area.
meet your support bubble or childcare bubble where necessary, but only if you are legally permitted to form one
seek medical assistance or avoid injury, illness or risk of harm (including domestic abuse)
attend education or childcare - for those eligible
If you do leave home for a permitted reason, you should always stay in your local area - unless it is necessary to go further, for example to go to work.Staying in your local area means stay in the village, town, or part of the city where you live.
If you are clinically extremely vulnerable you are advised to only go out for medical appointments, exercise or if it is essential. We recommend that you do not attend work

I don’t see anywhere where it says essential vehicle maintenance is not allowed. I have a vehicle with a euro 6 engine and DPF, going 3 miles to the supermarket all the time does not do it any good. So every couple of weeks I take it for a round trip of about 20 miles on the motorways where I live to stop the filter clogging and having a costly repair. I pass lots of police cars and have never yet been stopped. I don’t know if you have yet noticed but the roads especially where I live are as busy as ever.

Then if that is the case car garages that don’t do MOT’s should be closed because if it is the way you see it a car should not go to the garage for maintenance. Also if you take a car for MOT and it fails do leave it there because it will need a repair which is maintenance so it can’t be repaired.

Exactly. During Lockdown 1 I saw next to no traffic going to & from work but now, there's loads of it.
I'm not saying that's right .... but there is next to no difference in 'normal' traffic & now

Motorhomes and to a lesser extent camper vans are more vulnerable to being stopped than tow cars as they are more obviously "leisure" vehicles. My MH hasn't been off the drive since I can't remember when. Due to difficulties getting both done at the same time, I'm off for an MOT later this month, which I feel I can justify if stopped. The hab check part is being done in early April which is still slightly later than the warranty anniversary but hopefully things may be a bit relaxed by then. Both journeys are only about five miles.

Just got back from a few hours assisting at our local jabbing hub. Lots of concerned looking people going in and smiling people coming out .
Thinking of asking for danger money. I have learnt:
- never to stand to close to any over 70's driving. They have an uncanny ability to make a vehicle go in any direction except the one you (or they) expect.
- never direct whilst stand in front as they are parking. Speed control is not their strong point.
- wearing a very hi viz suit (gloves, hat, jacket and trousers) makes you invisible.

I think some elderly folks have simply forgotten how to drive - the trip out to the vaccination centre could be the first outing in the car since March 🥴

Congratulations, you passed. You saw him. I expect he was very grateful for that .
It's the youngsters that are doing the really hard work. I know of three, one young pilot, and two cabin crew, all now out of work. They seem to be doing around 12 hour days and doing it with such good grace, laughter and fun.

What age is elderly?, 70yrs old is elderly to a 30/40yrs old. If a person is 70yrs old is a 90/100yrs old then elderly🤷🏻♂️🤔(serious question👍🏻)

The Mot on our Diesel car is due on 22nd of this month which i have a booking for that day, since last Sep it has only been out locally on essential journies ,so on the day of the MOT i shall take it for a a decent run on the A1M to clear the exhaust system, and warm the engine
It has a private reg that would also show as a worcester registration?
Am i legally allowed ?
