Sorry to hear tonight that the grand old Sir Tom Moore is in hospital with Covid 19, wishing you well Captain Tom.

    Well there’s one thing for sure, he’s going to get the best possible care.

    Wonderful man, suitably rewarded for his efforts in raising money for the NHS...Knighthood really justified.

    How does his family get to stay by his bedside, when the rest of the country are not allowed to be with their sick relatives?

    Your last sentence crossed lips in our house. For his and their sakes its lovely but it will cause resentment. 

    My friend lost her husband in hospital, not covid related, last week - totally alone and she's finding this extremely hard. He'd not even been assessed at the community hospital he was moved to the day before...............

    Presumably because he is receiving ‘end of life care’. Visits from a family member are allowed in those circumstances.

    My youngest son's partners father died in hospital a few weeks ago and the hospital, with a sense that this was about to happen, allowed close family in to see him a couple of times. However a dear friend of my other son's wife died alone of COVID in Eastbourne because she apparently didn't have any relatives in this country. The latter was a complicated story which I won't go into beyond what I have said.

    It's  probably slightly differnet in some hospitals at the moment, I'm sure they're doing their best in other places. Sadly some people leave this world very suddenly too and families can't be there in time.

    He's a hundred years old with pneumonia and covid. Visiting by his family does not bode well, I fear.
