Possible increase in Contactless Payment Limit
Just seen on the BBC website that they are thinking about raising the contactless card payment limit from £45 to £100. It seems that COVID has seen a massive increase in the use of contactless payment. I tend to use it whenever I can but I imagine not all are so keen?

Interesting.
The only cash we are handling just now comes from our neighbours when we deliver their on line food delivery. This gets recycled very slowly at the moment. I can't remember the last time I accumulated notes and coins to this extent...so I'm saving some coins in a jar.

Yes, a bit too high for me.
I had to use my PIN number the other day, almost forgot it.

Perhaps a half way house would have been an idea but, there again, we don’t have to use contactless and can choose to use the PIN above a self imposed limit if we want.
I used to be wary of contactless but, with the advent of Covid, I've become a convert and appreciate not having to use buggy keypads.👏🏻👏🏻

I generally use applepay. Contactless and no limit (apart from your account balance ).

yes, same for us too.

It would be nice if they would allow one to choose your own limit up to £100, perhaps in multiples of £5 or £10. Also, the number of transaction allowed over a defined period before the systems demands a PIN. With modern computer systems it should not be difficult.

We are almost totally Applepay and contactless now. However I keep a couple £s in my purse to get dog a sack of carrots every so often😂

Can't remember the last time I used cash. Would never have dreamed of using contactless for trivial amounts in the past, but I do it all the time now.
Pleased to hear that your dog likes carrots as well, TTDA - Meg eats more than us!

I have to keep checking that the £70 in notes I have had in my wallet for the past 9 months haven't started to rot!! Even parking I now use my contactless card. I don't suppose we will see the demise of cash anytime soon but the pandemic will no doubt have seen a massive decrease in the amount of cash used which will probably continue when it's all over. Perhaps the Club will need to reassess the use of cash in Receptions?

Evening
RE. your last sentence DK. I really hope they do. As well as the risk involved in the counting, cleaning and disinfection of cash last summer it was so time consuming. Then there's the banking run and queueing in a barely social distanced bank for around 45 minutes. Far easier for proplr to leave all that folding under the mattress and get the card out
