UK staycation boom predicted

Good move to book the Scottish sites, Steve, as I think the world and his wife will be heading north of the border.

Interestingly a CL I've booked in July waived the deposit just in case things fell apart again, although I would willingly have paid it.
I'm now looking for a CL or CS in the SW, nearer to home for a possible earlier break after Easter. It gives us something to look forward to at the moment however precarious!

We changed our bookings from May to September this year as we moved them last to this year so hop goes all ok and only doing 2 sites in Cornwall now instead of Devon and Cornwall.
JK where are you this year? Hope the season goes well for you.

Yes JVB flotation fitted to all vans on site by the owners, and maintained by them. Hydraulics fitted front and back, so if it does flood the van just rises. Also we have 'new for old' insurance, so we never worry if it floods. It doesn't usually get that high though as the van is raised as well. One of the reasons we bought on a flood plain is to ensure the site won't get sold to a housing developer, as so many others are.

Haven't booked anywhere yet, except the motorhome service but have yet to see if that happens at booked time? It does require a bit of inspired guesswork to think when we might first get away. Hopefully we will get our vaccination letters this week but even if we have them in January we are still (personally) locked down to the end of February. It seems that even if the current high level of national lockdown is relax it will be back into the tiered system so whether realistically we will get away much before April/May is uncertain. I am beginning to wonder if we will cope with and ordinary year!!!!

In the hope that we will be allowed to travel, we have rebooked part of our planned Easter 2020 tour, but shortened it in distance and duration.
OH has booked 2 CAMC sites, 1 CL (deposit carried over from last year) and 2 CCC sites, so we will be no further from home than we can travel in one day. Furthest destination will be Inverness, and only 3 weeks away rather than 5.
Now thinking about booking sites for June/July going south.

Are you personally pulling your caravan K? Might be quicker if you use your car to do the towing
Have a great trip and hope it happens.

If you find yourself looking for a site in the Inverness area, I can thoroughly recommend West Beach at Hopeman. Beachside location on the Moray Firth, one of the nicer sites I’ve found in recent times - great Fish & Chip shop and Chinese in the village in addition to the small on-site kitchen. Brilliant for Dolphin watching, and if you’re lucky, the Northern Lights.

Apparently today, and the third Monday of every January, is Blue Monday - known as the most depressing day of the year!
Although some say that it's just a PR concept created by holiday companies to drive up bookings. I am sure the club making that news story on the day before Blue Monday is a complete coincidence, must be otherwise there's a really really clever person working at head office, what's a really really clever person doing working for the club?

Looks nice, but for the period we will be there it seems they are requiring a 7 day booking. Refused a 4 day one when OH tried.
Tried June too......also only 7 day bookings available. Is this usual?
I think we may have driven past it a couple of years back when we were last up there as we drove along the coast and stopped in Burghead.

Wasn’t a requirement when I was there mid September - maybe a sign of the times? That coastal area has much to offer, stunning wild beaches between Nairn and Burghead including lovely Findhorn - overnight stay in car park allowed.
As far as Loch Ness is concerned we stayed at Loch Ness in Fort Augustus - nice well situated site if you’re looking for something a bit upmarket, but price to march

Well I'm the opposite, David. I've spent quite a bit of the day today booking sites between the end of March and the end of August. Barring emergencies, the only ones that will be cancelled are those which are closed at the time, or if we are in a 'tier' when we are not allowed to travel. We have been extremely careful on the occasions we have been out in 2020 and I can't see we will be any more relaxed in 2021.

Now we have our first jab this friday ,and a date for second one ,we have booked sites from Mid March and getting home a day before the second jab ,and several others after Hospital appointment end of April and if it doe not work out then we will have to ammend to cater for what ever happens ,
As the DG the way bookings are filling sites this year it will be like a cork in a bottle ,when the lockdown starts to be eased

I’ve decided to do a bit of booking too, nothing to lose really. Cirencester mid April for 4 nights, and a 2 week tour in July/August (Warwickshire/Yorkshire Dales/Shropshire). If we get our first jab (as projected) in March, should be ok, restrictions permitting.

I think it's more a case of working up the enthusiasm. We went away a couple of times last year and felt we were just going through the motions. I think I will want to see some firm information that all this is behind us, or at least well on the way to it. Might feel different once we have had our vaccinations, letters supposedly in the post as they say!!!

We felt is was more of a relief for a change of scenery, David, especially after the March lockdown. We spent the Spring doing the garden, but when sites were opened we managed to get away for five and a half weeks in the summer.
We tend to do the odd 4 night 'mid-week' trip from time to time, and we've done something similar this year. Last year, as our youngest lived in Falmouth, a 2 week part of our long summer stint gave us the opportunity of meeting up with Anna in Cornwall.
We have booked a cottage for a visit to visit our eldest daughter in the Outer Hebrides, but I suspect this one many not go ahead because of restrictions.
Fingers crossed for the vaccine letters, David.

If we don't try and get away we won't see our family. We have one daughter near us but the others require some travelling so at least two breaks will be for the family.
We might be lucky if they are free to travel to see us but at the moment travelling will be easier using the van.
Hope you manage your Hebrides visit David!

Like everyone else, we're just doing things a day at a time. Best of luck for your plans, Brue. We'll just keep fingers crossed. It would be lovely to go, but if we can't, we'll just delay it to later on in the year... 😐 Decided against taking the caravan.... some of the sites are a bit basic for us 😃😃
