Lunar Automative: Unite calls for probe after Preston company with workers owed £170,000 in unpaid wages.

A LANCASHIRE firm is facing calls for an investigation after workers were said to have been left with up to £170,000 in unpaid wages.

The call was made by the Unite union, which alleges that Preston-based Lunar Automotive, formerly Lunar Caravans, claimed money from the taxpayer funded job retention scheme last year but has not passed any of this on to the company’s 45-strong workforce, currently on furlough and who have not been paid since August last year.

The story was highlighted on Look North tonight, but not a lot different from your report ET. Doesn't look good for the future of the company, though.

Saw this a couple of days ago our van is a Lunar so I am on one of the Lunar groups on Facebook and this was shared. Ours in just over 3 years old now and it’s been excellent so far just a few little niggles in the first couple of years that were fixed under warranty such a shame for the employees involved

Maybe he was trying to keep the company afloat  laughing

Disgraceful behaviour however and if found guilty he should be given a custodial sentence.

    fwiw .....

A very sad but likely predictable end now (for the P45 Staff & many happy loyal Lunar owners) to this drawn out fiasco part 2.

For me 'Lunar'  (South Africa ) was over before CV19 appeared 12 months ago - but that will be likely raised as the leading cause on the Cara press autopsy.

No surprises here also about the furlough money received by the new Company but then non payment news reports. If the shameless story is true (but denied of course) then for me it nicely sums up the ethics of the new owner(s) of Lunar & Clarity all along.

    Lesson won't be learnt (again).
