Why Does Easter last 18 days with CAMC?
Thought we might use a fairly local site to us around the 11th.April, the Sunday after Easter Sunday. Yet the club has decided to charge High Season rates. £31+ for 2 adults on a decent site but not a honeypot and in need of a bit of TLC.
Unfortunately there are very limited alternatives in the area so I'll have to change plans and go where there is an alternative but not where I wanted to be in the first place.
I do remember when rates only went up from the Thursday before Good Friday and went back down on the following Tuesday. Ah, those were the days.
Of course this is supposing sites will be open by then.

It's because they know full well that there will plenty of owners out who will extend their Easter holiday into a 2 week break, and pay the big bucks without complaint.

I imagine the prices are geared to the total length of the school holidays rather than just the days around the Easter weekend. We tend not to go away at Easter but being later and a possibility that COVID restrictions could be relaxed by then it could be the first opportunity for the Club to recover some of the money they have lost at other times?

It is becoming more obvious to us as we get older that what we consider "thats expensive" is it seems pocket money to many of the younger generations ,(or those that are still working now) after the first lockdown , most sites that had opened were very busy,,
I have been advised that one took nearly £ 37,000 more during the time they reopened untill it closed at the end of its season, than for the same period normally,
It will be quite interesting to see if the trend continues this year when? sites open ,
Site prices are these days more in line with school holidays, which in England also tends to encompass the Scots school holidays

I seem to recall that peak was always around the school holidays and one year with Easter either being very early or very late there was a three week window of peak prices as schools in different parts had different holidays.

I don't think that by Easter, things will have changed very much with regard to Covid restrictions - there will still be a very large percentage of the population still to be vaccinated. For this reason, we will be staying away from large sites and have booked into a CS not that far from home - where the prices never fluctuate according to season.

The answer is quite simple - greed although I think it could well be academic as I don't anticipate the restrictions ending much before May.

We've booked for Easter but I can't see it happening. The Government plan ( as far as they will have one) will be to open schools and try and get as many people back to wok but i don't think that will extend to the hospitality industry. Look what happened with "eat out to help out" - turned out to be huge virus spreader.
Whilst a break would be nice we won't go until it's safe.

Just out of interest when you were looking at those cruises you are/did book, were the peak prices around the two weeks over Easter or Christmas or just for the BHs?

I can perhaps understand it for this year. In the unlikely event folk are able to get away the sites will be rammed for the entire peak period. Given the revenue loss during the pandemic the club needs to maximise when it can. However, in normal years except for the BH sites were not particularly full. I always thought that a shorter Easter peak, might increase rather than decrease revenue.

Captive market (families with school age children), maximum extraction of cash (UK way of doing business). Happens across the whole range of holiday period vacation market. Have to say the Club are masters at this though. The only way to beat them is to simply use an alternative, booking late, and getting a discount. It’s why we sometimes opt for a last minute cottage, carefully negotiated directly with owners, rather than pay Club Site fees which are never negotiable🤷♀️
We fell foul of stopping one on a Club Site one Sunday night at end a BH period. We were on site for 14 hours, it put an extra £1 night on a three week tour of SW!

I agree ,some although even before the problems we have had in the last year , and no end it seems in sight yet "just hopes and dreams?" complained that sites were always? full , As i have posted before a call to sites has more often than not had a positive result

It is done in others areas as well, try booking a package holiday in school holidays. Even a three day break before any BH?
When working we had to use peak periods to coincide with my job, I just paid the money asked as it was what I wanted. To those still having to do that then probably they don't think it is expensive, it just is what it is if they want a club site. As been said real complaints about the prices are very few.
Now I have a bit more freedom I still don't mind the high prices at peak as it's what we want to do and treat the cheaper non peak times as a bit of a bonus.
I know I keep saying this but if the price doesn't suit...

I've just looked up a small cottage in Cornwall (English Heritage) £1730 per week for four people over the Easter time scale, so that comes in around £61.79 pp a night. It's fully booked for most of the year, barring further restrictions. I don't think many will find lower costs over Easter anywhere except CLs. My guess is take up will be high if holidays can take place.

There are options!
A well liked family owned site near me with about 30 pitches - with first class review scores - has a flat rate all year round including Easter and summer hols of £19 a night for hard standing and electrics. Although they wisely charge extra for those who like to heat their awnings.

We seldom tour in school holidays, only in normal times to places less frequented. But this year is going to be different, no doubt about it. We expect the price of everything holiday based in UK to be from slightly higher to taking the proverbial to be honest. The whole country is a captive market, it will be months yet before those preferring overseas can get overseas safely.
Us? We shall just do what we always do, mop up unused holiday opportunities hopefully at a discount price, be it in MH, or in a cottage.

Not often but yes a full +1

Not so in Italy, a number of campsites do increase their prices over holidays. Also what about airlines?

Yes, because particularly in Spain at Easter time the temperatures are not that great and the Spanish like it to be warm before venturing out in their caravans, so little point in hiking the price, you may get a few that venture out for 3 or 4 days over easter weekend to visit relatives but in the main not a big camping holiday for the Spanish , your Good Friday site was probably full of Brits/Germans/Dutch still not returned froom over wintering.

You must have found the only site that was full in Spain, i was on a very popular site Easter 2019, that was a particularly late Easter, but it was never full, yes it is Holy Week with lots of Spanish festivals but have never seen sites full of Spanish campers at that time of year

Most campsites and hotels will certainly put their prices up over national holidays. even if the holiday is a one day one the entire week (like the
Feast of the Immaculate Conception on a Wednesday this year) will be higher - been there seen it done it.The motorhomers I travel with won't use ACSI sites, the card has a bit of too coatto (the noun not adjective) about it
