Are you seriously suggesting that the PM should travel over 40 miles to what could be considered a second home to exercise? You've been posting about second homes and now you are suggesting he does that just to avert prying eyes?
But what has been stretched here Fish? Local means your village, town, or part of the city you live in. He stayed local, within his part of the city?

Policing Minister Kit Malthouse said: "What we are asking people to do is when they exercise to stay local. Now local is, obviously, open to interpretation, but people broadly know what local means.
If you can get there under your own steam and you are not interacting with somebody... then that seems perfectly reasonable to me.3 -
So you think its preferable for him to travel almost 45 miles, so 90 miles in total, so that he can be "away from prying eyes"?
If he is aware of the scrutiny this may have seemed a bad idea.
As for views on a 7 mile bike ride, I am unfit and in my 60s and my usual rides are a circular route of 14 to 20 miles leaving from home.
By choice I would cycle off road but, as that means driving to access it I think it better to do it from home.

The whole Boris story could have been avoided if it was recognised as a non story and media and finger pointers debated more substantial and important issues

It would and indeed should have been made a non story simply by stating "the PM cycled from Downing Street" - end of story.
Then the "medIa and finger pointers" could indeed have moved on to more substantial issues such as questioning our esteemed Health Secretary's continued use of the expression "don't blow it now" as if 80000+ deaths and rising was somehow an acceptable outcome.

I would imagine it was after consultation. Sometimes they have to be closed or diverted and there are usually planning time limits and reasons involved. I didn't mention the NT had done it illegally. The NT had a notice up directing people to the diverted route which was away from the "booked" area. Crowd control?

I have no idea where Chequers is and agree a 45 mile trip would be equally silly. That was not the point of my post. Simply with so many minders etc they could see anything he does is scrutinised t the n'th degree. We dont want any means of diluting the message reports now shows.as the media is full of this story.

Mountains out of mole hills, 7 miles, so that must have been 14 miles round trip, i do this on a regular basis, i think cycling is probably much safer than walking as you are going at a greater pace so stay in contact with a person for a much less time than walking, so much less chance of becoming infected.
I see from press reports that the 2 ladies who were nicked and fined, went back to repeat the scenario with a professional photographer and sold the shots to the national press , why wouldnt you

I think you’re desperately casting around for something to get outraged about, this is hardly Barnard Castle revisited.
Folks like BJ who’ve had a close and untimely encounter with death can be forgiven for doing everything in their power to protect their health & wellbeing regardless of his other great responsibilities. Surely you can’t begrudge the bloke a cycle ride of 7 miles in his locality?

Not Covid, but I had a letter over the weekend from the NHS prompting me to get the flue vaccine. Phoned my GP and all local chemists who told me they had no stocks. Boots said they have a few but are unable to make appointments for under 65’s but I could turn up and if they have time I could have one.

Glad to see that most of the major supermarkets are now saying they will deny entry to shoppers who do not wear face masks unless they are medically exempt.
Just need the two German brands to follow suit.

We have had news reportage of two fines handed out today/yesterday. One was a woman who drove her kids for a walk by a waterfall. She thought she had done no wrong. She had and fair enough.
The other was a couple who drove 7 miles to speak through a window to 94 year old grandmother of one of them. To me that is a form of providing care and compassion. The meeting had been agreed with the home. I personally feel that was a wrong police response. I suspect that many in Wales will feel the same.
Today I drove from Queensferry area in Flintshire to Leigh. to look after my two grandsons in Leigh. There mom who is a pretty bad asthmatic and has arthritis in spine like me needed somebody with them whilst she went for a blood test.
An interesting difference between Wales and England is in the supermarkets. I checked my tyre pressures and then called in Queensferry Asda for a couple of books for the kids. All roped off as were other isles. Called at Asda in Leigh to use the toilets as I won't enter my daughters home at present. I was able to get the books as all isles were open in EnglanThe M6 had few cars as did the M56. Mainly wagons and white vans.
After the blood test I drove to a chippy that does milk free batter as the kids are allergic, and gluten free for my daughter. A rare treat for the kids. One wanted food and the other to see the ducks and geese at Pennington Flash and so we did both at the same time. There were a lot of cars parked there but few people about. Some had stopped for a picnic in their car or coffee and some gone for a walk.

Good to hear you are back out. You have proper got the bug! OH has done some big rides pre lock down, but a friend of a friend came off very badly last week, serious injuries, so OH is erring on side of caution at the moment (road cyclist). Luckily all set up on virtual system up in attic. He rode Skipton to Kettlewell yesterday, weather was nice😂

Probably because it was out there in the media well before those at the PM's office got wind of it! I mean they are going to ask his press office what the true story is before they publish what looks like a good way to kick someone in power, aren't they?

He’d do more good being out on his bike & leave the scientists to make the decisions, if they had been we’d not be where we are right now🤷🏻♂️
