The very useful Swift Talk forum is suspended until 21 January..... not sure why but suspect it is due to Brexit and Covid themed topics getting out of hand. Disappointing as it is a very helpful forum with a lot of useful technical information.

Presumably you can still read past posts but not write new ones?

More I think simply the innate behaviour of a few individuals, than the subjects?

Shame, as forums can be a useful information source, as well as a "socialising" tool, that is so needed now if ever.

Fingers crossed it can be purged and restarted anew.

No, not even that, it is pulled till at least the 17th January when they will have determined where if anywhere they take their forum.

Perhaps DT has been posting there instead of Twitter.

I have not used the forum for many years but when we had a Swift caravan it was very useful. A brave move from a manufacturer to get involved directly with customers. I could be wrong but I don't think they use external moderation which then puts a greater strain on their own staff and they seem to have voted with their feet just like SAGA did many years ago. I don't suppose the people that caused the problem will have any regrets, infact one often wonders if the disruption is deliberate?

To be fair I do remember they 'expelled' one of their posters and practically named and shamed him on their site when that poster started attacking by name posters on here. But yes it was done by their Ro equivalent not any mods.

My OH used to post on there way back, but after a few years it seemed to become dominated by a few very  vocal and opinionated well heeled male posters.    Lots of politics and arguments.

Hoping to see some news today to the effect this forum is back. I personally found it very useful for technical problem solving and many other caravan related info ( often more so than this forum). Will be a shame if it goes.

Yes, a real shame that some members ruined it. I dont blame Swift albeit annoyed at the presumption we all use twittersphere and faceache hence part of the reason. I do not and will not use biased media platforms. Maybe scope for a new independant forum?

    Flatcoat

Social media platforms I expect are far from perfect but on the narrow issue of using them to provide and give information on our hobby I find them, increasingly, better than stand alone forums. I belong to a couple of Bailey motorhome Facebook Groups and I can usually get the answers to my questions within a relatively short space of time because we all share a common interest. To have a forum like Swift Talk or Caravan Talk set up specifically for for individual brands of motorhome/caravans is not always worthwhile. I suspect the problem with Swift Talk (probably applies to other forums as well) is that threads get hijacked, surprisingly this rarely happens on Facebook groups of the sort I have mentioned.

The problem with Facebook is finding a previous thread. A most un-user friendly format IMHO.

In some ways that is true. Facebook is not so good for the long discussion threads we get on Club Together but where it comes into its own is the asking and getting answers to specific question or problem where two or three posters can explain what you need to do. Where I agree is when you have a memory of a subject being discussed but for the life of you it can't be found because it has slide down the page into the abyss!!!

You cannot have your security set up very well. Avoid making comments on round Robins, that helps. FB and Messager is the best way of keeping in touch with the wider family and friends.

Not so good for discussions and keeping track of post though. The search facilities helps but I still prefer forum formats.

The adverts are a real pain.

R2B, there does seem a preponderance on here that aren't impressed with the format. Perhaps CAMC forum users are a more discerning lot. We are often reminded that we are a mere microcosm of the membership so clearly an elite bunch. wink
