The last couple of outings of the season I filled the toilet flush water from the filler on the outside of the van and experienced wet carpets in the bathroom

Could this be over filling or do I have a leak

Has anybody had a similar experience

We never traveled with ours full, however if staying for several days I always filled it to the brim. Never any problems with leakage.

We have travelled with ours full, Steve, both the fill through the side of the van type and the self contained filler tube type and have never experienced any leakage.

It's not possible to overfill either type as when they're full, they're full. Any surplus will just run off and be immediately obvious as it splashes over your feet.

So 1 )   only half fill it in future, if that cures it you may well be over filling

then 2 )  If it still continues to soggify your bathroom floors / carpets you probably have a leak,  no no a leak not a leek  innocent

Make sure the filler pipe is connected properly. A friend of ours flooded his brand new van wash room because the filler pipe had been left disconnected before purchase. At the time he thought the van system was taking in lots of water until his wife spotted it was flowing out under the wash room door! We had all gone away for the New Year and it was difficult to get the soggy carpets dry.
